Luckily, no one knows that I am on their team. Otherwise, I might be ashamed of not riding on the first day of FS. Tomorrow looks like crap!!
I’ll do my best to make it up to you team (whoever you may be).
Actually kinda nice out today. I hope you went for a ride.

ParticipantOK. So this time I meant it. My first zero mile ride of the year. It’s rare I have it so early in the season. Oh, well.
If our team is off the top three by 100 pts or less, I will pay all our team members 200% of our winnings from this game!
I just hope the rest of my team is better!!

ParticipantAlan, Really no need to beat yourself up. We all have busy lives and have individual tolerances to crappy and cold weather. This is not a sufferfest. It is a friendly neighborhood competition to encourage everyone on their team to RIDE more than they rode last year. Just do your best, man. No need to pay your team members back.

Jessica. Sadly, I ride a lot of miles during the year, so they usually think I will keep that avg. during FS. I am a fair weather rider, so when the weather gets bad, my team will suffer. We got lucky last year when we got a replacement Captain. Otherwise, we would have been bottom dwellers yet again.

ParticipantAlanA, great thread idea.
I should probably apologise to my team in advance also. I hate cycling. No, that is not a joke. I despise it, and the only thing I hate more is being on medication while fasting. Which is why I continue to ride.
I think about gear a lot – and I spend unjustifiable sums on it because I keep deluding myself that different might be more fun. It isn’t.
Motivational speeches? Rubbish and lies – and the proof is I go ride when the motivators don’t. No it won’t be awesome. It will be absolutely miserable and my genetics have cursed me to it. Group rides are pointless because I don’t want to be a mood killer by being honest. Solo rides are – solo, and just as bleak as that sounds.

ParticipantI feel compassion for all my friends whatever the issues are that keep them from riding (and whatever the issues are that get them to ride more to deal with other stuff in their lives
) This year, I expect to ride more than last year – but last year was IIRC my worst FS since 2015, as I had relied on my commute to get me out the door and riding. (I have some gear, and would have more, if not for some decluttering issues)
Be well, all.

I actually love cycling and being outdoors. But, only when it’s dry. I used to have rain gear and did all that nonsense, but I got older and wiser. I also had a Mt. bike and rode in the snow (which was a lot more fun than riding in the rain). I no longer have the rain gear or the Mt. bike. I do still have my cold weather gear, so I can ride when it’s cold and sunny! Which is what I will be doing a bit later today.
I am impressed that you do this to yourself.
