Back by popular demand! The BAFS2018 Social Butterfly (and Infiltrator) Pointless Prize Competition…

Because I have been too busy to really do much other than team assignments this year, the rules will be exactly the same as they were last year, with the small exception of the hashtag for group rides.

The premise is pretty simple. Be the person that goes to the most social events related to Freezing Saddles between January 10th and March 19th.

REMINDER: This contest does not start until the Opening Happy Hour on January 10th at 6PM.

What is a social event, you ask?

    1) A BAFS happy hour (such as the opening happy hour happening on Tuesday) that is publicly posted and open to all participants of BAFS and has a minimum of nine other BAFS attendees (ten total)
    2) A BAFS team specific happy hour planned by members of one team that is either publicly or privately posted and has a minimum of three other BAFS attendees (four total)
    3) A BAFS organized ride of greater than 4.99 miles that is publicly posted and open to all participants of BAFS and has a minimum of nine other BAFS attendees (ten total)
    4) A BAFS team specific ride of greater than 4.99 miles planned by members of one team that is either publicly or privately posted and has a minimum of three other BAFS attendees (four total)
    5) A local shop/coffee/social ride of greater than 4.99 miles planned either by BAFS members or the general cycling community that is publicly posted and has a minimum of five other BAFS attendees (six total)
    6) A coffee club with at least five other BAFS attendees (six total)
    7) Any other bike-related event (for example, Monster Cross or a bike related movie at Arlington Draft House) with at least five other BAFS attendees (six total)

For all non-ride events, photos are required that name (forum user names please) all BAFS participants and describe the type of social event.
For all ride events, photos that name (forum user names please) all BAFS participants and a Strava link are required. Please advise the type of ride (BAFS general, BAFS team, Shop, Coffee, etc). Please also use the hastag #BAFS2018Butterfly on all Strava group rides.

Photos (and strava ride links) should be posted in this thread. Only one BAFS participant needs to post, everyone that attended will get credit as long as they are in the photo.

Bonus points will be awarded for any event where at least 9 team members participate.

A really awesome prize that is yet to be determined is up for grabs here. Not to mention all the really awesome people that you will get to meet!

After the ride, we stopped for some pizza and beer. On the way out of the parking lot, I saw this little gem:

Pizza in Leesburg, yes? That Ghia scrapes its pan all over town. It’s hilarious and ridiculous.

All right, time to catch up with events from the past week and a bit.

First up, WTFCC on Thursday, January 25:

Around the table: wheels&wings, lordofthemark, Emm, Pierre, Steve O, and CBGanimal. reji was there too, but she’s so fast that my camera couldn’t capture her.

Further proof of reji’s speediness: she’s that green blur in the back. Also in the picture: CBGanimal, hozn (well, mostly hozn’s glasses — but the rest of him was there too, I promise!), Ejwillis62’s son who was visiting for a few days, komorebi, huberww, lordofthemark, Ejwillis62, LeprosyStudyGroup, and aschildg. Emm got there a few minutes after this picture was taken.

I got to Java Shack at 8:00 this morning and there was literally one customer there, and he had not arrived on a bicycle. Where was everyone? I still need my pie!

Most of the regular attendees (FFG, CBGanimal, and myself, at least over the past couple months) were down in Rosslyn for the winter bike to work day.

I’ve never been to that coffee club, but if it’s like some of the ones I’ve gone to, some are early, some are late, and never the twain shall meet :D

Here’s a pic from a few days ago, where I infiltrated the Magnificent Seven’s team meetup at Brookland Pint. Rod Smith was also there.

Since I just met some of them and have no idea whether or not they are in the Federal Witness Protection Program, I have masked their identities ;)
