This morning’s HDCC featured drevil, who rode all the way from College Park just for coffee. Judd, Fast Friendly Guy, sjclaeys, LeprosyStudyGroup, Arlingtonrider, and bentbike33 were also there.

I used to work in a bike shop there in Shirlington Village called Metropolis Bikes back in ’96-’98 and would bike down from Merryland once in a while. IIRC, it sat where Aroma sits now. We had 3 huge storerooms underneath the other shops in the plaza filled with bikes and parts where some goofin’ off and unsanctioned races occurred It eventually went belly up in late ’98 or ’99.

Anyways, good seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones this morning!

It’s been 20 years since I’ve seen most of those folks, but you are talking about Fred Rodriguez. One of the other main wrenches, Sam, now works at Spokes on the other side of 395. Tom (the manager) and Mike started Plum Grove Cyclery in Leesburg soon after Metropolis closed. Jacob, who was a teen working at the shop back then, is now one of the managers at Bikenetic.
