Yep! What does not kill me makes me stronger. Except for that hill. That might just blow my knees out. :p

If I remember right, you’re taking the Martha Custis hill? Maybe you should go over a block and try Valley Dr. It’s a longer climb, but a slightly easier grade.

I think that’s a wise plan. If I I injure myself every time I try to get up the MC hill, I’ll never get strong enough to get up it properly. Little steps!

The trail was nearly empty this morning. So were the roads. I guess I’m in the ELITE group of non-vacationers.

Starting out, my legs felt strong. Then I realized I was still in the second chain ring after last night’s ride with the kids.

I had no such luck — guess everyone joined me on the late shift today. Including a higher than normal volume of cars on M Street, PA Ave and L Street. Maybe the last week of August will be good?

KelOnWheels, I think I missed something — how are you calculating cadence?

It was damn near vacant on the W&OD around 7:30 – 66 also seemed to be flowing better than normal. +1 for Vacation!

I got me one o’ them fancy bicycle cycle calculator computers. If I put on two magnets I can go twice as fast! :D

I really WANTED to be out on the trail this morning but I am still dragging from this cold and I just couldn’t get going in time.

It is not helping my conditioning to keep taking weeks off so that I can lie around like a Victorian consumptive. :P

Yah, I was wondering if I missed the memo on some super secret holiday or something. I was only passed twice (both no calls, what a surprise) and I lated passed the same folks. Even going up the 15th St cycletrack, I didn’t notice many folks coming southbound.

It seemed to me that there were lots of people on the W&OD from the Custis intersection to Glencarlyn, and on the MRT from Glencarlyn to the airport. Also lots of people on the MVT, but traffic moved fairly well on the GW Pkwy.

Legions of folks out in Reston/Herndon on the WO&D- most crowded weekday morning that I’ve seen it (excluding BTW day)

I made it back out on the bike today! 11 day sick break not cool. :p

Got a little tired, definitely no PRs today but not too bad overall. Saw a decent number of folks out and about.

Hey, remember how I mentioned my knees were hurting a couple of weeks ago?
Gee, maybe that had something to do with the inch and a quarter I raised my seat last night after measuring it 😮 Still a little twinge on the right knee, might raise it a touch more and see how that feels. Also, I discovered my seat is crooked. The right side is higher than the left.

Getting a fitting as soon as I can afford one.

Although I mostly blame my horrid office chair. HATE sitting in a chair. Should bring the trainer to work and sit on the bike all day. (Yes, I have a 20-year old MTB and a trainer. Go figure.)

I think I need to get out 15 minutes earlier so I can pass you on the MVT. Nope, I’m going to use that 15 mnutes to do an extra three mile loop. Why would I want to get to work any earlier when I can be on the bike? ;)

Yeah, raise that seat as far as it will go (says the tall guy). Think about Glucosamine. And if the knees continue to hurt – listen to them.

Oh no, I was not ELITE. I should have called it a saddle. Why is a saddle on a seatpost?

If you want to sound more continental you can call it a “saddle pole” or “saddle pillar”.
