ParticipantI have some easily attachable/detachable SKS fenders that I’ve been very happy with for my 35 mm tires. I’ll bring them to the happy hour in case anyone would like to see them. (Tire size doesn’t matter with these.)

Do you know what model they are? Since I’m also running 35mm tires currently, I’m somewhat constrained in my options so I would be interested to know what you’re using.

ParticipantI ran yesterday for the first time in a couple of years so when I woke up this morning I was so sore I could barely walk.
The obvious solution was to get on the bike! Great ride in, what a gorgeous morning! Muscles were feeling it but still really good. Clean bike was very happy.
Work today has been BANANAS. Haven’t managed to get away from my desk for second breakfast or coffee yet and blood sugar is droooopppppppinnngggg….

Oh no! Who was chasing you?

I know right? What was I thinking?
Running < cycling. You can't coast or anything! Maybe people with fixies like running. My quads want more breakfasts.

You can’t run from yourself!!!!!
That is what I think when I see runners in the moring. They commute in, then run, then work, while I just commute in (well and then work). Simplicity.

ParticipantWhat a great morning!
Coming up by Ohio Drive/the Tidal Basin was interesting as usual, today they set up a little obstacle course for us to get around with sidewalk closures and traffic cones and giant holes.
I was kinda slow except when I wasn’t but that was OK.There is a teeny little collard on the 4MRT by Rt. 1. It makes me nervous.

I watched two guys in front of me so frustrated by the bizarre signage that they just salmoned up Ohio all the way to the light at 15th. I attempted the obstacle course that took me down to the memorial then up the path to cross back over the street and for no appearent reason since I didn’t see workers there today. At least it’s easy on the way home.
In the world of animal sightings, I saw something moving on the trail down right past the swamp bridge just north of Slaters Lane area. I slowed down and it was a crawfish primed to attack by bicycle tire. I almost stopped to see if it would actually attempt the attack, but decided it would just be confusing for other folks coming up behind me.

ParticipantWhen I went through the area around the Jefferson Memorial a couple of days ago (toward DC), they had a very nice little detour set up with signs directing you to it. You had to ride on the grass to get to it, but once you got on the paved path the signs directed you to, it took you right around the back of the construction. I didn’t ride into town the last two days, so am not sure if it’s still there.

Is that the teeny, tiny one stream side just as the trail splits? I’m always concerned I’m going to hit that one as I head east, particularly if there is oncoming traffic.
On the positive side, the nasty big collard hidden by grass in the 4MRT short connector between N Arlington Mill Rd and the W&OD at Bon Air Park disappeared yesterday and is now a smooth asphalt patch. I did manage to score a direct hit on that a couple years ago on a rainy fall day when there were also leaves partially obsuring it and scored double pinch flats. Luckily it was on the way home, I was only a couple blocks from home, and the tires did not totally deflate until I was almost there.

Yep, that’s the one. I always slow down ridiculously coming east down the hill. It wants to eat tires. I can sense it!

Today’s detour took you down the driveway by the Jefferson to the old bike path and then it redirected you back to the sidewalk where the crossing is of Ohio Drive. They seem to have been working on this project there for the last month and a half. I’m beginning to wonder what exactly they’re doing that takes so long.

I wonder that about every project. I wish I had never learned that the Empire State Building took only a year to build – it’s ruined my perspective.

Ha, you have just ruined my perspective as well. I thought that Empire State Building took a decade. Now I’m wondering how on earth they’re still constructing the mixing bowl a decade later, let alone the perenial construction along the Mall. (FWIW, I also learned today that Canadian Mountain Dew did not have caffiene in it until very recently due to some health regulation).
