ParticipantThis is of course licensed from the Smithsonian, right? Because otherwise you might be getting a call from the Smithsonian trademark attorneys.

ParticipantYes, the staff member who created these worked with our branding team and is in the legal office, so it’s all clear.

ParticipantMight get confused with the Astana team if you’re not riding in the DC area.

ParticipantI fully admit to being seriously tempted by this, esp as women’s cuts/sizes are included…

Participant“a custom Smithsonian jersey and bib set”
Can the jersey be purchased separately, or are they just sold as the set?

ParticipantFor those of you who missed it last time–they are selling the Smithsonian jersey again. They are using a new manufacturer this round.

I got a jersey last time, and I get lots of compliments on it every time I wear it. The design, with all the different museum names, is really cool. The staff over there also get bonus points for actually clearing the design through their branding officeHere’s the info they emailed out:
I’ve attached a design that was approved by the branding office. Once again it will feature the names of all of the different SI units. Eliel will offer a more casual and looser fitting unisex option, then a more traditionally fitted mens and womens jersey, mens and womens bib shorts, and womens shorts. They also waived their minimum item requirement on a wind vest because the company’s president thought it was too cool of a kit not to have that option too.
Ordering will be done online through a webstore and will ship directly each customer. It’s about 6 weeks from the time the order is finalized. The store will only be open for a couple of weeks once posted, so I wanted to get the word out now before posting the link.
The “Coronado” is a unisex jersey with a relaxed fit. The “Malibu” is the more fitted version made in men’s and women’s options.

ParticipantToo bad they don’t have a polar bear on the jerseys. Just because…

ParticipantI’m glad that the Smithsonian uses “only the best European fabrics” for its cycling apparel.

Do you love the Smithsonian? (Because you should!)
One of my fellow Smithsonian cyclists has worked with Castelli Cycling Apparel to design a custom Smithsonian jersey and bib set, featuring the names of every Smithsonian museum and research center. Orders can be placed through a special page on the Castelli website, which will handle payment and shipping directly. The online still will be open ONLY UNTIL FEBRUARY 12, with an expected delivery in April.
The website is listed below. If you’d like more information, please message me. You do not have to be a Smithsonian employee to participate–friends, family, former employees, former interns, or anyone else who simply loves the world’s largest museum and research organization can purchase this custom jersey or the set.

ParticipantSarah Bee and Judd were talking recently about how comfortable their Smithsonian kit from Eliel is. Fittingly, this showed up in my email today:
2018 Smithsonian Bicycling Gear Available now!
After many requests, I’ve once again worked with Eliel Cycling Apparel to create some Smithsonian gear for all of the Sunburst cyclists out there.
We’ll have a casual fit jersey option (Coronado Jersey), as well as a more fitted option (Malibu) in both men’s and women’s jerseys. There will also be matching bottoms and a few plain colored pieces from the manufacturer at a 20% discount from the retail price.
The online store will be open until April 27th. All orders will be shipped directly to your door if located in the U.S. (we’ll make an alternative plan for those at STRI).
Delivery should be 6 to 8 weeks from the time the order closes.
Please feel free to forward to any friends or family you think would be interested.

For sure the nicest and most comfortable bib shorts I own. They’re my go to for century rides.
I found the club fitting on the jersey to still be a bit form fitting so if your someone like me that flip flops between sizes depending on the brand, I’d go with the larger size.
