Ditto on the condolences, lordofthemark. I didn’t see the fb post so don’t know exactly what happened, but I too worry every time I lock my bike up with my cable lock. (Some twit stole my bike pump over the weekend and this puts that in perspective. I leave the pump in the bike room so I can others can use it but c’mon…)

I am bike-sitting 2 bikes for someone who hopes to be able to ride again one day after many years of medical travails and would be open to lending you one of those while you figure out a new bike. He is 6 feet.

Sorry to hear that, n=0 is terrible.

FWIW ( not that you’ll need reminding now ) I had my first LBS-purchased bike stolen years and years ago and had locked it up with only a cable lock. I still miss it even though it was just a heavy Diamondback. I remember getting a much nicer bike to replace it and still feeling like that! I tend to err on the side of caution nowadays, and will ride my beater bike if I’m worried about locking it in a high-theft area.
