Three women in the movie need to escape and come across a Citi Bike station. Two of them successfully use the Citi Bikes to reach a safe location. But the third woman… well, she didn’t fare so well.

Yes, the movie is goofy and inane. Even weirder that Al Roker and Matt Lauer make cameo appearances as themselves. But it might be the first time I’ve seen characters in a movie or TV episode riding on Bixi bikeshare bikes. NCIS showed a (fake) CaBi station in an episode a couple years ago, but the characters didn’t ride the bikes.

One of the comments on the Gothamist article:

“Takes a movie to get CitiBike’s first “fatality.” I’m sure Dorothy Rabinowitz will have a field day.”

It is awesome that bike sharing is getting visible enough that it’s entering culture as “a thing you might come across some places”. Hopefully it leads to more people thinking, “Hey, we should have that here”.

Courtland Milloy also made a cameo – as a shark.

I think you’re giving Malloy too much credit. He’s a turd, not a shark. Sharks are badass.
