Shh. I thought it was our little secret.
Sorry, but I couldn’t hold back. And I guess it’s a good time to confess that I’d like to see a few economists eaten by sharks too. Nothing personal.

If you feel that way, then you must think that the Sharknado movies are all evil because people get their heads bitten off in them. You should also be very dismayed at all the fans who laugh at it. Especially when famous people get eaten.
The lead actor in the first two movies, Ian Zeiring, said “Who were we going to let be eaten? Everyone wanted to be eaten. It seems like it’s a badge of honor to have that on your IMDb account when it says “Man #2 eaten in ‘Sharknado.’ ”
I guess you don’t get the joke. That’s okay.
No, that’s not what I said. I understand what the Sharknado movies are. Why do you think I even started this thread? I wouldn’t have posted this otherwise. My issue is with your specific post. I still don’t find it funny, for various reasons. It’s not just about a fictional scene when you say the country would be better off without a particular person. Doesn’t matter what party is involved. That makes it different, and that’s why I continue to have a problem WITH YOUR PARTICULAR POST, not about the idea of the movie itself and people getting chomped onscreen. I’m older than 5 years old. I get that it’s fiction, OK, so you can stop repeating that part of it. I’m hoping that I might be shown getting squashed by a shark in the movie myself. But that’s completely different than going on about ridding the country of a particular person, whether or not it’s in the context of a discussion about a B-movie. Maybe it’s more real to me because I’ve known people who were personally affected by political assassinations and others who were targeted.
I don’t like it when people on Tea Party sites, and in person, talk about getting rid of the current President (permanently), which I have heard many times. Just as I don’t like the comment about getting rid of a former representative permanently.
Ziering’s post does not target a particular person that he hates and wants to get rid of permanently. So I find nothing objectionable about that at all. I don’t have any problems with people lining up to film cameos or guest spots in the movie so that they get eaten or smashed by CGI sharks. Anyone who has visited this forum will know that I sometimes post humorous (or what I like to think are humorous) items, mostly bike-related. This has nothing to do with a lack of humor, a lack of understanding of what fiction is, or a failure to understand what the Sharknado movies are about.
There was a lot of aggressive political discussion nationally about “targeting” people from the other party. At one point, there was an ad campaign showing a sniper’s rifle viewfinder image. While that may not have led to the shooting of Rep. Giffords, the casual acceptance of violent speech in political discussions may have normalized the idea of political violence.

ParticipantWho asked what we’d “discuss” when BAFS was over?
I certainly didn’t think we’d run out of material, but I did not see sharnado 3 coming.
Makes me wish for blinkies and Fred’s.

There’s no difference between the movie and my comment. The only difference is that they have a production company and can make a stupid movie, and all I have is this forum to make a stupid comment. I made a suggestion for something that should be in the movie. Suppose it actually happens, and Bachmann really is eaten? Will you then think it’s funny?
Comparing my comment to some whacko Tea Partiers is silly. I don’t want Michelle Bachmann to be eaten by a shark (permanently). I want to see her eaten by a shark in a fake stupid movie (fictionally). I guess I’m going to have to start making my own movies for SyFy before you accept it.
I ask again – do the Sharknado movies have you concerned about normalizing violence against C- and D-list celebrities?
Or sharks? Alot of sharks get cut, speared, squashed and blown up in the movies too.

How about we just lament that you’ll no longer be easily identified on the trail without your neon yellow booties?

ParticipantI know this thread is dying, but I can’t leave without this one:
Okay, so I suggested that it would be fun to see a certain person get eaten by a shark–don’t bite my head off over it.
See, that was worth it, right?
