Weather Underground is showing a pretty solid break in things out west over the next half hour or so – not sure about the big splotch south of town though.
I saw that and left work 20 minutes early and took my most direct route home on the Custis. That splotch mostly went south and east of me, but still got a short heavy spell from Lyon Village to just past St Ann. Much better than what is coming down now!

Well, you are a “tri” guy so you know how to swim and have the right clothes for the bike/swim transition. No problem!
Thanks very much for the genuine laugh!

ParticipantLeft in between storms. Managed to make it home dry, save for the last 1/2 block when the skies opened up.
Everyone be careful out there!

Ditto – actually hung out in my garage to wait for it to die down right after I put my bike away – crazy stuff. W&OD is probably flooded by now.

I also attemped the same, and also mostly succeeded. I even went the most direct way I could (K St under Washington Circle to Key Bridge), and my GPS signal got lost – an ominous sign I thought, and I hit rain before I was out of Georgetown. But barely a couple blocks into my drive home it really poured – <15mph, low visibility, full blast wiper stuff, so I think my timing wasn't too bad. A(nother) good thing about commuting home by bike a lot is learning more backstreets. 309 was stop-and-go so I turned off and drove home smoothly via quiet neighborhoods.

ParticipantI got home fine, but my wife may get a little wet. Serves her right for going to happy hour and leaving me with the kids.

ParticipantJust drove down Wilson and checked out the creek from the bridge just downstream of the junction with the Custis down to Wilson. The W&OD looked OK but the creek is flooding and the Wilson underpass is impassable. Be safe out there!

ParticipantThe tree is down between the I-66 underpass at Westover park and the W&OD trail. As it is not illuminated, it is tough to see at night. There was no flooding at the I-66 underpass.

Looks like the county did a quick job of clearing this one. By the time I road through over the weekend it had been cut up and was off the trail. This morning they were cleaning up the high water debris from under George Mason Dr along 4 Mile Run
