32,800 without power in Northern Virginia (primarily in Alexandria). Much lower numbers in other area jurisdictions.

I was at L’enfant at 4, the rain was so heavy you couldn’t even see with the windshield wipers at max!

Lots of downed trees and standing water, for the folks commuting home be careful out there guys

Just cleaned my chain yesterday. It’s my fault. I’m so sorry, guys.

    Best. Timing. Ever.

I left Tysons about 5 minutes after a huge storm went through. Got home to Annandale about 5 minutes before the skies opened up again.

    Oh yeah!

The map is only mostly orange right now. I’m going to give it a try. The only way out is through.

I was in a bus shelter for 10 minutes trying to convince myself that it was made of lightning proof materials. Then of course as I headed out again there was more thunder and lightning.

Fortunately they just opened a market/bar in my building where I can wait out the storm.

Just got home – got powerwashed, and there are fresh water sprinklers everywhere. Rode through some almost foot deep water on FMR, at the underpass just east of 395. Passable and seemingly safe (no place you can get washed into), but interesting. Will post in trail conditons shortly.

OK, the riding in the rain is getting a bit tedious.

Only ten more days to go. Oh, wait, that’s just as far out as the forecast goes. :(

Maybe I’ll mount the fenders this weekend …. If I do that the forecast should clear up.

I left the office early (just after 1pm) to set up for my son’s birthday party at our community pool. First drops started on the W&OD just past Shrieve, had to stop to put the cover on my bag at the Virginia Ave/66 overpass, and I got chased off the road by very close lightning at the Vienna Metro, I just waited for a bus home. The radar was really messed up. It was like storms were forming on the Eastern Slope of the Blue Ridge and kept on coming east, probably that the radar couldn’t see through the rain/mountains west of there, but it made it hard to predict the weather. I kept telling my wife, it should clear in an hour or so, we are about halfway through this cell, then a new one would form and continue to wash us out. No pool party :( but we were able to reschedule for 11:30 today. We shoudl get it in before the rains hit again. Then maybe a family bike ride? :)
