September is always special for us – we do on-sites to mix it up a bit. So this month, we’ll be on-site on Quincy St where the County should be putting in a protected bike lane… sometime.

Monday, September 12. 7pm. Meet in front of the Central Library, we’ll walk to Fairfax Drive.

    Hi all,

A bit of an update: the BAC’s September meeting will be tonight at 7pm. We will meet at the Quincy-St-side Central Library (1015 N Quincy Street) and walk a stretch of Quincy Street to discuss putting a protected bike lane on Quincy between the Custis Trail and Glebe.

Afterwards, please join us for drinks at Carpool (before it’s gone for good!)

Some of you may have see that I wrote the Progressive Voice article on ArlNow about this very issue last week. Late Thursday, after that went live, County staff asked us to postpone tonight’s meeting, and combine it will a meeting next Monday with WABA’s AAC and other stakeholders. Because tonight’s meeting was already announced, I don’t feel comfortable cancelling tonight. However, it is unclear how much information County staff will be able to share with us tonight. Hopefully they will at least be available to listen.

I am told that more information will be shared at next week’s meeting, which is scheduled for Monday, September 19 at 7pm in the cafeteria at Washington-Lee HS (just up the street, though it’s easiest to enter on the Stafford St side).

I know this is frustrating, but I wanted everyone to have information to plan accordingly.

Thanks and hope to see you tonight!
    Gillian
