Did anybody sense a disturbance in the force this morning about 0815?
I rode Crystal Drive southbound from 18th Street and didn’t encounter any autos in the bike lane. I’m not sure what is going on.
Chck FilA wasn’t open yet.

KeymasterNo pics yet, but watch for mud and debris on creek-side trails, esp. Four Mile Run. This is just down stream of Mt. Vernon Blvd bridge.

ParticipantOnce again two warning signs for east bound drivers on S Glebe Rd were blocking over half the width of the 4MRT by the Long Branch bridge (9/11 about 12:30 pm). I didn’t bother to Lumberjack them this time.

Those must’ve been put out later in the morning. They weren’t there when I rolled through around 7:30am. So annoying.

An advanced technique for Lumberjacking these is to totally dismantle them and then stack them up neatly away from the trail.

ParticipantIt might be good for the County to look at their policies for those types of signs. The sign in question could have gone up 50 yards further west on the grass.
The crew putting it up declined to show the MOT or identify the project they were putting up the signs for when I spoke with them.

Also plenty of room in the curbside lane of the road.

ParticipantFrom Facebook’s MVT Trail Users Group:
Just a head up that some…very special…person posted on Nextdoor in my area that they will be open carrying a firearm on the MVT this Saturday at 10:00 for a gun rights protest walk that starts near the Dyke Marsh, South of Alexandria just near Belle Haven (around mile 4 or 5 I think). He is trying to enlist other…special people…to walk with him.
It’s perfectly legal in VA and on National Park land.
Just a heads up, in case you run across them!A few other posters responded that they knew of this specific individual, and he was known to be very confrontational. So please, regardless of your political views on this, stay safe and don’t confront.

ParticipantThere is an Alexandria Public Art Ride going that Saturday morning. https://www.facebook.com/events/235704787858843/
I am hoping like hell none of the three ride groups will cross paths with them (I am with Judd’s 8:30 group).

Hmm. If it’s legal, what’s he protesting?

Fairfax County passed an ordinance this week banning firearms on county properties.

Not to worry, the ride route stays well clear of the MVT.
