You can tighten or loosen the lever mechanism by turning the nut or screw on the other end of the lever. Of course this only works after the lever is already in the open position.

Thanks. Maybe I should start carrying a screwdriver around with me.

I don’t think that nut uses a screwdriver. It should be just like a quick release wheel. …Unless it is a seatpost bolt on a road bike that requires a hex key.

I think the screwdriver is meant to be used as a lever to pry open the quick release. Don’t you know how to misuse tools?!

On a related note, am I the only one who consistently has a wobbly seat which quickly falls to the bottom of the post and which I am unable to tighten? This seems to occur with increasing frequency.

Again, as PotomacCyclist and DismalScientist stated, just fiddle with the nut on the opposite end of the quick release to tighten/loosen things. Will get you exactly where you want to be in terms of ease of operating the QR and not having the seatpost slide down…

I also like using a little bit of carbon paste on things like seatposts, because it both prevents seizing and increases friction so you don’t need things as tight to prevent slipping.

I think we are talking about CaBis, though that is never stated.

If so, the cold could be a factor.
