Okay, putting out the formal invite. As noted in the other thread, this “event” will consist of a ride from Capitol Hill to Lake Artemesia via the Anacostia trail starting at 3pm (about 25 miles). We’ll regroup at my house to cool off in the pool, then I’ll grill some combination of chicken/burgers/hot dogs. After sunset, we’ll put on HBO’s Tour de Pharmacy on the outdoor projector. I will provide food for the main course and a selection of drinks, but people should feel free to bring additional apps/snacks/sides/drinks. My house has plenty of enclosed (but not covered) room for bike parking in the backyard, so you can leave the lock at home.

The one change to the plan from the other thread is that I’m *suggesting* a donation of $10 from those who stay for the party, which will go to Kitty’s Climate Ride fundraising efforts. I will let someone else handle the money though, and donations will be on the honor system…but if I find out you didn’t donate I’ll hunt you down and deflate your tires at a time when it’d be really inconvenient.

Please RSVP to this thread so I have an idea of how many people will be coming. If the weather is shitty, I will do my best to reschedule.

    Date: 15 July
Time: 3pm – whenever people drag themselves out of the pool to ride home
    Location: My house.
Cost: Suggested donation of $10, all of which will go to Kitty’s Climate Ride fund

    **Don’t forget**

    -bathing suit
    -towel
    -lights

Alrighty, now that we’re into the week of, what should I bring food-wise? Are/will there be any vegetable sides? If not, I’ll bring something because I’ll need to eat something green to balance all the sugar I take in on rides. If that’s covered than what do you need? Beer or baked goods?

Veggies and beer would probably be ideal! My wife has said she wants to make a dessert, so I think sides and beverages are the highest priority.

Awesome! Can do! I need a temporary break from baking before I go into overdrive on “thank you” packs

Officially IN! Plus one. Dane has decided to grace us with his presence for once. :p

I will be bringing Orzo Salad (vegetarian with goat cheese) and as many frosty beverages as I can fit in my cooler on the back of my commuter bike. (This should be interesting!)

If a person were potentially interested/able to attend the movie/pool party/food extravaganza but probably not up for the 25 mile bike ride, what time would you suggest that person aim to arrive at?

I’ll bring a growler of some Port City.

Probably any time after 6pm, I think.

Holy cow it sounds like there will be a lot of beer… too much beer? Just enough beer? Should I still bring beer?

Yeah…. too much beer is the craziest thing I’ve ever read.

“Drinking from the pool is ill-advised.” We’re going to need bigger growlers.

I’ll most likely attend. I live beside Lake Artemesia, so maybe I’ll wait on a bench until y’all come around and hitch a ride back to 2WDC’s place. I’ll bring beverages.

How many situps do I have to do between now and Saturday afternoon to get into pool-bod shape?
