We just did our shop ride in Beltsville. Only a few of the traffic lights were working, but it wasn’t a problem. Some debris on most of the roads, but nothing bad: Powder Mill Road, 197, Old Laurel-Bowie Road and Beaver Dam road had lots of small branches, but no real blockages. Glad we got out early — it was an awesome ride! -Jeff

I bagged my early morning ride, which is much of that same loop. The neighborhood streets were littered with branches and I saw a number of trees down, so I just did about 5-6 miles. (I still had to go to IHOP!)

Around 5:15 .m., on S Irving Street, between 5th and 3rd, a tree was down across all but about three or four feet of the street. Power and/or telephone lines were down, too, covering that gap. As I approach 2nd Street, an SUV comes tearing around the corner and I motioned for it to slow down. As he drove by, he greeted me with a “Shut the F* up motherf*er. I shouted there was a tree down. I don’t know if he heard me, but I heard him hitting the brakes. I was tempted to turn around and see if he hit the tree, but I knew I’d start laughing at him and figured I’d just keep going.

I just rode a loop from 10.5 of the W&OD to Custis, to Mt. Vernon, to Four-Mile Run, to W&OD.

The W&OD has a big limb down at Idylwood Park.

The Custis must have had ten trees over the trails when I went through. Pretty difficult

The Mt Vernon and Four-Mile Run trails are fine. Some debris, but no major problems.

The W&OD from 0 to 10.5 has only one tree blocking the trail (mentioned above) but lots of debris at various places.

Be careful! I was almost beheaded by a limb hanging over the Custis.

That said, I had a great ride.

Thanks for the head’s up. I was just heading out the door to do the Arlington Loop (the route you describe) then decided it would be best to see if anyone posted anything here. Looks like I’ll be sticking to the MVT.
