ParticipantCool.
I was too late. I went by this area around 7:30 and didn’t see them.

ParticipantI saw them at the same spot at about 5:30. I couldn’t stop because I was already running late for officiating at my kid’s swim meet. If I see them on a day when I am less pressed for time, I will stop.

ParticipantI saw them out in Ashburn. I was kinda ticked that they were conducting the survey in a very unsafe manner by blocking the trail and jumping out at cyclists.

Participantthey were just setting up on Sterling Blvd last week, so I didn’t stop. Somebody did holler out to me as I passed “wanna fill out a survey about this intersection?”
I was already past her by then, so I just yelled back, “YES, it SUCKS!”

ParticipantThey ought to set up shop at Custis & N. Lynn Street. Man, will they get an earful.

It seemed like what they were doing is kind of an ongoing process. In addition to the questionnaires, they had someone collecting data on the number of trail users going through the intersections.

ParticipantThey were at Wiehle Ave in Reston on Saturday.

ParticipantI think we should commend the govt/park folks for making an effort to improve the trails and we should do everything we can to provide useful information. Heaven knows we are are a neglected bunch as it is!
Yes, I do agree they should focus on the most dangerous intersections (e.g., North Lynn St) but any efforts are much appreciated.

Who else saw these and where did you see them?
I saw them there around 5:30. It sounded like most of the survey spots were west of this intersection. The NVRPA staff didn’t seem to know about any of the Falls Church plans for W&OD realignment.

The people I saw doing the work were from a company that conducts such surveys. No-one at the intersection was actually from the park authority. That might account for their lack of specific project knowledge.

ParticipantAhh, that would do it. I assumed she was a NVRPA staffer b/c of the beat up pickup truck.

There was a NVRPA truck with people taking surveys last week at W&OD and Belmont Ridge Road, just east of Luck Stone Quarry – the intersection with the double stop sign and the charlie brown shirt stripes along the intersecting road. An aside: ah, Virginia, way to make an industrial mineral extraction operation into a scenic overlook!

I passed that this morning, haha. It gave me a cheesy grin for a second. There was a small group who stopped to look.
