Safe route Annapolis – epping forest – to start of Anacostia River trail

Annapolis to DC isn’t the greatest ride. The River Trails is gorgeous.

There are parts of that strava route that I’d avoid. I’d consider skipping the stretch of 450 from Race Track Rd to MD-3. Instead, I’d cross the Patuxent river via Governors Bridge Road. I’d also go further north along 197 and head to Beltsville, rather than take 450 to Good Luck Road. Good Luck isn’t horrible, but a lower stress option is coming from the north.

The bridge crossing the Patuxent River is currently closed to all traffic on Governors Bridge Road which is why the linked Strava route takes 450.
