ParticipantYikes. That sounds scary. Glad you are more-or-less okay. That’s not one of my favorite intersections…the cars often whip around really fast. I trust the driver stopped after hitting you…?
Congrats on landing your flip on your feet. I just returned from my kid’s gymnastics competition in Baltimore. Sounds like you would have fit right in there.

ParticipantUgh! That’s horrible but glad you escaped mostly unscathed. I’m glad you saw it before it happened or it likely would have been much worse. Hope you’re not in too much pain today.

I expect not since he photographed the license plate. Be glad it didn’t happen in Alexandria where authorities have decided hit and runs are allowed.

ParticipantYikes! Glad you are ok and am very impressed with your cat like skills.
I think the situation you are describing is a good reason to ride in the center of the lane and act like a car when going thru intersections.
If GoPro captured this I wonder if the cops would at least contact the guy????

ParticipantMore reason why right-on-red needs to be banned by default, with exceptions made if officials can prove no danger to safety. I was hit by an illegal right-on-red (King+28th, “No Right on Red When Pedestrians are Present”) in the spring of this year so I have a personal motivation behind it.

I got a photo of his license plate and have a Strava track. Reported it to ACPD just in case — obviously these things happen but if it’s an elderly driver who’s done this before maybe someone needs to step in.
Excellent.
Glad you escaped with just bruises/scratches.

ParticipantThanks, all — I did end up mostly okay. One good knock on my lower left leg where I hit something and one whack in the, uh, undercarriage region. I forced myself to get back out today and do a ride to get back on the horse, as it were.
The guy sort of pulled over and was creeping along in the shoulder. To be honest, I was so shaken that I did not want to stay around (plus, as someone also pointed out, that intersection is bad enough already). I think it’s a reminder to all of us younger folks to keep an eye on our parents as they get older, and to the more senior of us to keep ourselves honest about driving — the right on red was bad enough but I’m almost certain that a younger driver would have seen me in his peripheral vision a lot earlier.
