    Hi everyone,
It’s time to start our RSVP list for the Freezing Saddles End-of-Season Celebration and Pointless Prize Ceremony.
    Date: Wednesday, March 21, 2018.
Time: 6 pm onwards. We’ve reserved the space until midnight.
Location: Bier Baron Tavern, located at 1523 22nd St NW, Washington, DC (between P and Q Streets on the east side of the street)…this is near Dupont Circle and Foggy Bottom in DC. The room has audio-visual capacity including a screen, a juke box, a sound system (we can hook up an iphone or other gadgets), projector, etc.
Cover charge (suggested cash donation): $10 per person…all of this will cover food, as Bier Baron has waived its normal rental fees. They will card us at the front door, where we’ll show our IDs (it’s a tavern) and pay the $10 for food. There will be extra food since we have $220 left over from January.
Food: We’ve asked the venue to stagger the food in batches rather than putting it all out at 6 pm. The buffet of finger food will include soft pretzels, quesadillas, and falafel sandwiches.
Beer: Bier Baron sells 24 beers on draft, and up ‘til 7 pm there’s a $1 discount on the draft beers (the standard price is $5 to $9 for most types). They also sell 600 types of beer in bottles, and they have sodas and juices as well. There’s a full menu of dinner food for those who wish a heartier meal.
Children: If you’re not able to park your little ones with a friend or a babysitter, you can bring them along….kids are welcome until 9 pm.
Bike Parking: Bring a U-lock and any other locks you’ve got, ‘cause we will be parking our bikes on the street. Do not park on the neighbor’s fence, and especially not within the neighbor’s garden. Last winter we did an extensive search for bike parking facilities in the area, but without much luck. However, there are 15 racks between Bier Baron and Dupont Circle, which will hold about 70 bikes, plus assorted poles and other things to latch onto. There is also Capital Bikeshare, assuming you can find a space in which to dock your bike, and now there are multiple brands of dock-less bikes as well. Bier Baron is located near the Dupont Circle Metro, if you opt to take transit instead. If you’ve got a folding bike or a bicycle of the sort that would leave the rest of us drooling, or if you forget to bring your lock, the Bier Baron has graciously offered for you to bring your bicycle into the bar. There is only limited space so please send me a PM (private message) in advance, if possible.
RSVPs: We are making a list of likely attendees so as to generate an approximate head count for food.
Please reply on this thread (and please indicate the number if you’ll be bringing friends/family). All are welcome.
    Looking forward.
w&w on behalf of your hardworking FS social committee

Just an FYI… If the weather is as bad as they say it is going to be, I will be working throughout the storm and unfortunately, not stealing Judd’s beer… *sigh*

That being said, I can get my pointless prizes to someone to hand off to the winners if needed.

April 9 is ok for me…. if we have to. But I plan to show up tomorrow night anyway. :)

Monday April 9 works for me!

If OPM doesn’t close the gov’t and I have to go to work, then I’ll be at Bier Baron regardless…

I’ll be there tomorrow if it happens, by metro if that’s the only safe way to go. April 9 works for me too. Not sure I’ll do both if there are two.

Be careful of the Metro alternative, the website is advising that the Metro and metro buses may be closed or severely impacted tomorrow. K

    Riders,
If we can’t get Happy tonight, I will not be able to fly back in spring. Someone will have to award my Doughneuring prizes and the Paul Revere Midnight Riders prizes. I did ride all 78 days (again).

Barring really horrendous weather (i.e., if Metro, biking, and Uber/Lyft are all down), I can be there. I can also be there April 9. I will await the e-mail in the morning.

Regrets for tonight’s final FSLHH as I am currently on overseas work detail in Colombia. However, I could possibly be around for April 9th if the much anticipated event is rescheduled. And how fitting that FSLHH is in flux due to inclement weather! Is there still time to announce a Rule 9 pointless prize for those who show as currently scheduled?;-)

With the reschedule, I can no longer make it, unfortunately. I edited my earlier post to reflect this as well. Hope everyone has fun!
