Heavy police activity around the Reagan building today. The North ramp (closest to the bike room) was closed, and while the south ramp was open, a uniformed FPS officer and some plain clothes guy (I would bet it was SS) was guarding the bike room entrance. They were kind of enough to let me go in and get my lock and shower stuff, but I could not put my bike in there. Not a lot of good the shower kit does anyway, since the shower room is in part of the closed area of the building. I locked up near the south ramp with my shitty cable lock, so hopefully my bike is still there later on.
No one would give me a straight answer as to why part of the building was closed, except that there were “dignitaries” coming, but I saw a ton of bomb dogs and other police, so my bet is that King Obama or someone similar is visiting today.
Shitty part is that I reek today, I really could have used that shower. Might have to go to CVS and get some wet wipes or something.
Edit: Yeap, King Barrack and a few of his royal court are rolling up today.
I think you mean President Obama.

Why is the head of state doing his job make him worthy of the insult of being a royal?

’cause he was born in Kenya, DUH.
Thanks, Obama

ParticipantTrucks can use the loading dock but not bikes with trailers. Use of hand trucks by people entering at street level pedestrian access points sporadically denied, effectively blocking human powered delivery of oversized loads completely. Sorry for the thread drift and rant.

Why is being a royal an insult?
I want to be a king. Or even a prince. Shoot, I would accept knighthood and go by sir. Can anyone help arrange this scenario? Note, I do not have the financial means to simply buy nobility. Thanks!

ParticipantI seem to remember plenty of buildings and roads being closed off for President Bush. And President Clinton. And President Bush. And President Reagan. And…
(Well, actually, I don’t remember the Reagan years that well since I wasn’t in DC too much then.)
So it’s a valid question why President Obama deserves such scorn for something that has always been done for every president in the modern era. (Though not back in the early 19th century.)
