Roosevelt Island Parking Area Modifications

This may not be the right thread for IoD comments, but I just thought I’d mention:

It looks like Phase IV of the Custis/Lynn Street detours will be in place for BTWD. (See the map here. Solid yellow line is Phase IV.) It might get a little crowded that day, but I’m going to Gateway Park anyway to pick up my golden ticket. Does anyone see any major concerns with the detour with the BTWD crowds?

The Phase IV detour is going to be a PITA, no matter what. It seems like it might steer folks right over to the park for BTWD though.

So the southern mulch path (coming off the trollheim) was closed and the trail reopened (and repaved!) along the west side of the parking lot. At the middle of parking lot (where the zig-zag would normally be), however, there’s a new (at least, this wasn’t the configuration last week), longer mulch path and it’s already in terrible shape. It’s basically mud with a thin layer of mulch. I avoided having to walk on 25s, but the high volume of bike traffic this morning was taking its toll.
