Thank you for sharing this. Another Mr. Cox memory is that his wife gave him a home brewing kit. I offered to help him with his first brew day and he always said he would do it later. His passing reminds us that someday there will be a last bike ride and a last brew day.

Chris W and I made a tribute ride out to the visitation last Saturday. We followed his Strava route from the commuter bus lot to his house. We returned via another of his commute variations.

We met his wife, son and other family, friends and neighbors. I’m really glad we went to represent his biking community of friends. It was heartwarming to see so many people there.

I would like to make his wife and son an album of bike photos, sort of like what we did for Bobco. I will bring it to coffee clubs and gatherings. Those who knew him and are comfortable sharing a thought may sign it.

Please look through your photos to see what you may have. He was on some Freezing Saddles teams. He also was a semi-regular at Java Shack on Fridays, mostly in 2016-17 if memory serves.

Send any that you can find to me at steve [at] offuttemail dotcom

Robert Cox’s wife posted on Strava about the financial challenges she is now facing: https://www.strava.com/athletes/7185270/posts/6690238, so there is a GoFundMe to help if you would like: https://www.gofundme.com/f/mighty-girl-wendy-cook

Thank you all for your kind words about my husband, it means so much to us. And thank you to those who were able to join us for his life celebration. It was lovely getting to meet you. Thank you also for riding his morning route in memory of him, it touched our hearts deeply. For those who don’t know the story behind “Vern”…when we were dating I used to say to him, “Know what I mean, Vern?” and he’d say, “I know what you mean, Ernestine”. He then made his email address, “imnotvern” and it was sort of a joke with us.
    Sincerely,
    Wendy
    (I’m not vern either)
