Go Team 5. Wish I could join you. I’ll try and have a beer at 6pm Wednesday to be with the Team in spirit.

Meeting Time: Roll out at 9:30ish am from Dogtag Bakery in Georgetown, 3206 Grace St NW. They have great pie and cake (and more traditional breakfast options), so get there early!
Route: This is the general route. We’ll get lunch in Barracks Row, and end at Bar Roubaix.
Pace: Social, no drop.
Questions: Send them to me and I’ll try to ask Handlebars, or bug her yourself on twitterAnd in the beginning…

You can believe 1 of 2 things regarding why most of my pics came out bad today on Handlebars DC’s DC Alleyway ride:
- Wild animals photobombed my pics, throwing off the focus, OR
- I suck.
I present the evidence:
photobomb01 by ricky d, on Flickr
photobomb02 by ricky d, on FlickrEmbarassingly, most of my pictures from today came out bad. I used a manual focus only Samyang lens (which I rarely use) on my Sony a6500, and most of them came out blurry even though I was using focus peaking with focus magnifier. None of the pictures were sharp; most were unusable. I have a lot of learnin’ to do.
At lunch I switched to a different manual focus only Mitakon lens which had better results, but I didn’t take many pics with it.
I apologize to those that expected pics from me today, so I’m giving full refunds. Just send me your bank account number and passwords and I’ll wire the money directly to it.
I saw some of Boomer’s and HandlebarsDC’s pix, and those were nice. Maybe I’ll just stick to using my iPhone to take pix. At least I don’t have to wait to be disappointed [emoji3]
If I salvage any, I’ll update this post with a link, but it’ll be tomorrow. I’m tired.

That giraffe is a frequenter of the Rapha store in Georgetown. I bet he was looking for extra long neck gaiters in hot pink again…

I seemed to have better luck with photos using an older model LG phone…

Team 5 will host happy hour in the basement of Meridian Pint (3400 11th Street NW 20010) this coming Wednesday (1/30). I’ll plan to arrive at 6pm and am told that the bar has a fine selection of taps that will surely keep me entertained until at least 8.
11th Street is a great strip of bars, restaurants, and row houses, and is very cycling-friendly. I think of it as a low-key version of U Street.
This is a great chance to meet the riders behind the team that will be gradually ascending past yours in the rankings.
A few of us from Team 15 would like to join. Does look like it will be frosty on Wed!
