Let the competition begin!
I’ve not done a Komorebi ride but everyone says they’re great. For “sightseeing” or just doing something different, I love the routes!

New Year’s Day ride to see holiday light installations
When: Tuesday, January 1, 2019, starting at 4:30 p.m.
Where: The Grounds, 1102 S. Eads St., Arlington VA 22202. (I’ll be at the Whole Foods across the street starting at 4:00 p.m. if anyone wants to grab coffee beforehand.)
What: Ride to see three sets of holiday light installations: Impulse in Crystal City, some of the installations at Georgetown GLOW, and Light Yards at Yards Park. The route is at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29098440. Social pace (12-15 mph), no drop. Afterward, I’ll probably stop for dinner somewhere in Navy Yard before heading back to NoVa.
Who: Anyone who wants in on the fun.Another win from Komorebi:

ParticipantI’m going to ride the full Virginia Capital Trail out and back to Jamestown on Sunday, January 6 (Three Kings Day), starting from the Clarion Inn in Richmond if anyone wants to join me. I expect to start at 7:30 and and the full distance should be about 108 miles.

Have fun! FYI – the trail was in good shape this past Sunday AM (some leaves/twigs/branches down, but nothing too bad, especially given the torrential rain that fell Friday) and surprisingly quiet. I think I saw maybe a dozen other cyclists total over the 50+ miles.

ParticipantNew Event: Anacostia River Trail Trash Clean-up Ride
So as I was riding home to Murrland this morning, I observed the mountains of trash along the East Bank Trail along the Anacostia. This has been one of the many negative fall-outs from the government shut-down. Let’s help out NPS and keep this beautiful park safe and clean for neighbors, pedestrians, and cyclists!
When: Saturday, January 12th
Where: meet at Velo Cafe in DC 730 Maine Ave SW at 9am to ride up to the Anacostia rec center. I’ll be heading in from Falls Church, so if you are coming from VA, I plan to roll from Best Buns in Shirlington at 8:15
What to Bring: sturdy gloves, bike lock, can-do attitude, nitrile gloves, large trash bags, large recycling bags (I will bring some too).
When: see above but until noon or whenever we get tired. Optional beers & lunch after at BlueJacket.
Why: Because the trash along the River is gross and sad
Who: You! Please RSVP to this thread if you would like to comeJanuary 10, 2019 at 1:54 am #1093572Jessica Hirschhorn
ParticipantI would like to join you.
See you at Velo at 9 am.
Regards, Jessica H.
