ParticipantIs there a chance that rush hour rides on these segments could earn bonus points? Evening rush compared to an early Saturday morning are very different rides on these urban roads.

I am reluctant to ask our volunteer coders to do more work, and my initial thought is that having ANY riders visible in these lanes at any times is good.
But I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences relating to them (though for the Old Town lanes I have some guesses). Also if you ride the Van Dorn lanes at rush hour, would love to hear what you have seen in the general travel lanes – a certain person on FB and NextDoor insists Van Dorn has become a traffic nightmare due to the bike lanes, but google traffic seems to indicate it is almost always fine except right at the King/Menokin lights. I personally am never there at rush hour (it may be some time before we have a normal commuter rush hour again, of course)

Thanks! I’ve added this to https://github.com/freezingsaddles/freezing-web/issues/52 – we should be able to work it in soon.

ParticipantI just want to say that I’ve been working on scoring on this prize all week and I’m pretty sure my score is still zero, so kudos to you lotm for leading us unwittingly into a great ordeal.

ParticipantIn order to promote this Pointless Prize, I have decided to organize a “The Doughnut is the Deed” ride. For those who want to participate, we’ll meet at Sugar Shack at 804 N Henry St in Alexandria at 1:30 for doughnuts and coffee on Saturday, January 12th. We’ll roll out at 2 p.m. and hit all 8 segments in this challenge and end back in Old Town Alexandria. The entire route will be about 11 miles. If you’re looking for a bonus doughnut stop, I’d be open to stopping at Duck Donuts in the Bradlee shopping center near the halfway point of the ride.

Good morning everyone. I’m going to postpone the doughnut is the deed ride this afternoon due to the forecasted snow. The King Street downhill segments are potentially dangerous in slick and snow covered conditions.
I still plan on going to Sugar Shack to grab a doughnut for anyone that wants to hang out for a bit and grab a coffee.
