I’m thinking that photo may be from the 2013 ride, not 2014. We look so young.

U R right. Double checked the date on the photo and it was 2013. And given that I’m wearing the 30th Anniversary jeresy, this year will be at least my 4th time doing this ride. Fortunately, this year’s cue sheet has -530ish feet less elevation than last year, so we only have to climb ~6400 ft[emoji4]

So, me. I’m planning to do the full century. I’d be happy to do as much or as little with anyone else as our relative comfortable speeds allow.

I am in. Boomer forced me.

And I agreed before I converted 6400 feet to meters. Ugh.

I propose leaving as early as possible to hopefully not suffer in the heat…

I will be one of 3 ride marshals on the century ride, but will not know about my exact start time until tomorrow night’s RBC2015 meeting. I’ll post an update once I know my assignment.

Wait, how many feet?

I may not have thought this through properly…

Don’t worry, I have already paid my monies and I am just as susceptible as anyone else to the sunk costs fallacy. :rolleyes: I will be there.

I am planning to ride to the ride, so I’ll need to get going early to get out there. Haven’t committed to a RBC start time yet.

Shall we have Forum meetup at 7:00? Or is that too ambitious? 7:30?

But doesn’t that make the number smaller?

I converted and got more than 75,000 inches. Yikes!!

Good point. 6400 ft converts to 2 x10-13 light years.

0.0000000000002 clearly rounds to zero. So there will be essentially no climbing at all on Sunday.

I feel much better about all this now.

I attended the RBC2015 century SAG team meeting last night at the Herndon Library and wanted to share the following random tidbits:

Road arrow markings key:
* RED: Half Metric (35.7 miles, 1353 ft elevation)
* BLUE: Metric (67.4 miles, 3047 ft)
* YELLOW: Century (103.5 miles, 6347 ft)

* The Metric & Century rides overlap until mile 35.1 (where centurions will bear left onto Rt 690). This is the decision point if you are indecisive about which length of ride you are up for doing.

* Centurions: watch out for police issuing tickets at mile 12.6 (Belmont Ridge), 30.8 (VA-7 BUS W), and 61.6 (pls use all SS going around the Square!!). These have been problem spots in the past when cyclists didn’t obey the rules of the road.

* Centurions are expected roll as early as 0600, even though the official start time is 0630. The first Rest Stop, Ashburn, will be operational by 0700.

* If you encounter a road hazard, please report it to one of the ham radio operators at a Rest Stop, or a Road Marshall (who can call it in for a SAG crew to attend to).

* Due to popular demand, the snow cone cart will be at the Loudoun Mill/Old Mill Rest Stop again this year! (Metric mile 44.3 & Century mile 80).

* Please use hash tag #RBC2015 when posting your pics to social media.

* be safe, practice the rules of the road, and have fun [emoji4]!

Powerful P pointed his laser gun at my skinny little arms and proposed wheels rolling at 6:30am
Ugh.

You may either join us then, or if you are f148vr (aka HF) and his speedy bud, Colin, you can just start at 8 and catch us.
