    Thread resurrection!

Going to try and do these on a semi-regular basis over the winter, starting tonite! Start location will be the Reston Town Center in front of Cosi/Potomac River Running. Start time will generally be about 6pm. Pace will be consistent. I’m no speed demon, nor am I out there to drop people; balancing that though is that it gets cold in the winter and we probably don’t want to spend a lot of time standing around waiting for people. If you can average 14-15mph moving for a 20 mile ride with a few short breaks mixed in you’ll be fine. Obviously these are night rides. Lights are required. A good headlight (preferably bar mounted) and a good taillight. I have some extra lights if anyone needs to borrow one.

The loop will vary some. I’m very familiar with Reston and its environs, so I can improvise loops pretty easily. Plan on anywhere from 15-25 miles and 1-2 hours total. If people have time or distance constraints, let me know at the ride start and I’ll adjust. I do like to hit the famous hills of Reston (Hunter Mill and Birdfoot) so be prepared for a little climbing. :)

The roads we’ll ride are almost all low-traffic and generally non-stressful. Occasionally we need to connect something on a busier road, but its generally just one intersection to another and we’re back onto smaller roads.

So, yeah, come out tonite if you’re interested in trying some of the road riding around Reston. In the future, I’ll try and post these a little further in advance. :)

One of these days I’d like to join you, but I probably can’t tonight.

Lydia and I had a lovely ride last night. At this point, we are planning the same time and place next week. Wednesday at 6 at the Town center. Meet on the town center end of the bridge over the W&OD (just up from the bus terminal).
