I offered someone some air last week (in front of my house no less) and he acted offended.

I generally just say “Excellent application of Rule 5” to generally puzzled looks. Then I just ride on by.

Passed a guy this morning who was intent on finishing the walk to his destination rather than accept my offer of assistance with his flat.

Was he going up the hill or down? If the former, that might not have been offense, but the early warning signs of cardiac arrest.

The poseur with the flat tire on the Custis Hill two nights ago was my son, who had worn through his tire using my trainer ~ but who has refused, like any good teenager, to learn how to fix a flat.

Ah how I miss the sub-freezing temperatures.

I would have been extremely embarrassed as a teen if I couldn’t have fixed a flat. What if a girl saw? Or worse, another guy?

Also, this is incredibly short-sighted. A few months back I came to the aid of an attractive woman struggling with a flat tire. If I had been single (and probably better looking), I would have had the perfect opportunity to suggest a date.

Why are you using a good tire for trainer riding? Isn’t that what old worn out tires are for?

You could have suggested FCC. Not exactly a date, but no one would object to some eye candy I don’t believe.

Wait a minute… I thought that you thought that you were the only eye candy we would ever need…:p

“I’m so vigorously strong that I wore this tire out to the point that it’s unfixable.”

    There, that was easy.

Unless there’s a mirror around, I still need something to look at.

The air is filled with the scream of unlubed chains as they are forever pulled across the largest chainring and the smallest cog at 45 rpm.

Also, my b-screw is totally misadjusted.

Or wait, we weren’t talking about me?
