Bring back the dislike button! My first year was very much a process of riding and being totally cold and then going to REI that night to buy something that would fix that level of cold.

Same here…and then I ended up buying stuff that was just “okay” for me but didn’t really work for me. My collection of slightly used cycling gloves is a testament to that. (Not entirely sure how I could’ve avoided it, so maybe the hard way is inevitable?)
Speaking of – if anyone’s needing a pair of barely used Pearl Izumi Ride Pro AMFIB Lobster Gloves in XXL, let me know.

ParticipantThey have a class for that? Unless they are they going to teach my nose not to run, I don’t think so.

ParticipantWhile many if us scoff at the idea you need a class on how to ride in the cold, was there not somebody on here last FS advocating the use of plastic bags over feet due to an incorrect understanding how sweat works?

I see the class as an interactive form of those annual articles by Bicycling or others on “riding in the winter” – great for those (like myself two years ago) who are feeling a bit intimidated by the idea of riding in a DC winter and would appreciate and benefit from someone sharing tips and being available to answer questions so that you’re better able to plan and have a bit more knowledge at your disposal as you figure out what works for you.

ParticipantYeah, just teasing in good fun. I’m all for WABA classes and getting people out there.

What?!? What kind of a place is this where people will tease “in good fun”?!?!?

ParticipantAnd meanwhile, I’m using my electrically heated jacket. I love the fact that it automatically adjusts to the outside temperature. So on days when it’s 20 in the morning and 40 in the afternoon, or vice versa, I’m not having to tote extra layers around.

That’s cheating!
