There are no pedals on those bikes!

They are slower than my bikes with pedals

Yeah…gives this link even less relevance on a bicycle forum, let alone this thread.

I saw lots of kids having a blast on Redlines at the Capital Classic yesterday. It seemed like about a third of the kids were riding them (extremely unscientific). They were clearly a very popular bike. I loved watching all the kids and teenagers enjoying cyclocross so much. They were good at it too!

I will definitely buy this bike or similar for my kid when he is old/big enough. He’s still on a 14″, though, so I suspect I have a few years to wait. (And my wife probably wouldn’t appreciate me planning *that* far ahead …)

He responded to the request to lose the somewhat offensive joke sig by adding a sig that’s a link to an unrelated forum. It’s not intended to be relevant, and you’ll presumably see it at the bottom of each of his posts now. Yes, it’s confusing unless you follow the first rule of the internet: don’t click the link.

edit to add to mcfarton: I’m afraid this may have come across as rather more hostile than I intended. This is actually a pretty welcoming group, just understand that this forum doesn’t have much of a tradition of sig messages so they do seem a bit strange/confusing in this context, especially since they come across as basically looking like in-line text.

    It’s almost kind of spammy…

I did figure that out eventually. I’d rather have the “mom’s house” reference, frankly; there are plenty of posts here with links at the bottom, and those are supposed to be clicked.

Make that $400 rather than $550.

How much if I’m buying it from your mom’s house?

And I thought I had another year or two to wait for this particular bike. Grrr.

Transportation costs will accrue if I have to bring it to Mom’s.
I thought there was another year in this bike, too. Growth spurt would have it otherwise. It can hang in the garage without going bad…

So, this could fit a (relatively normal) 10 year old now and in two years another buyer would be relatively easy to find?

Someone had his eye on a small cx bike at Fresh Bikes and Bikenetic.

I clicked on the link, despite the rule of the Internet. The link is to an old thread that he revived on the other site, with this post:

“People were making fun of my sent from your mom’s house sig on another forum. So now they see a link to a dead thread. I may update this when I change up my bars.”

I’m not sure what to make of that. People weren’t making fun of the “mom’s house” signature. We were wondering about it, and also expressing some annoyance with it. Some would consider it offensive and many would consider it questionable. I don’t think it was appropriate for a general forum that is supposed to cater to all local people and groups interested in cycling, not just brash younger guys (or older guys who behave that way). That sort of stuff will put off some new people from visiting the forum. Plus this is a forum that is officially supported by gov’t groups from Arlington, DC and Alexandria. Even more reasons why things like that signature should be kept to a minimum, in my view.

I don’t know why he has to have any signature at all. Other people use Tapatalk and they don’t have signatures of any sort, let alone questionable ones (because of taste, appropriateness or potential spam).

    Yes and yes.

You should buy it so my wife doesn’t think about killing me every time she walks in the basement for the next two years.
