I think the forum consensus is going to be the ELF: http://organictransit.com

    /sarcasm

I’m not sure that we have many recumbent riders around the forum. I’ve seen some folks around DC in recumbents but they seem to come in a wise variety from low to the ground trikes to high up two wheel to more car like shelled varieties and on up to the ELF which in my mind is a pedal assisted car.

Like other bikes the recommendation is going to depend on what you’re looking for. Personally if I were looking for one I’d like to be sitting upright and have it be a trike so that I didn’t have to balance.

You’ll probably have more luck getting advice if you search for a forum dedicated to recumbents.

This brings to mind one of the strangest sites I have seen in a while for cycling. While I was being driven through Lagos last year there was an ex-pat middle-aged lady riding a commuter bicycle through the very congested roads (as they always are). This is a city where cars make 6 lanes of traffic where there are only 4 lanes marked on the road.

(The original poster seems to be based in Nigeria given their forum name and similar posts on Nairaland. I am not sure that the width of a recumbent is going to work so well given the traffic patterns in the metro areas in that country. Maybe if in Abuja, but not so sure about Lagos.)
