ParticipantOther than the usual bike shops in the area, check out some of the community/co-op run shops like http://phoenixbikes.org/ or http://velocitycoop.org/

ParticipantI may have a used Scott SUB 30 I can part with. It was supposed to be my bad weather commuter but it’s clearly too small for me, and the BB/cranks etc don’t handle my clydesdale (overweight) leg strength very well. Also, my commute distance doubled and I just don’t trust it for rides over a few miles. Will you accept bikes that need a little TLC? It’s operable, but definitely needs a little bit of a tuneup.
I’ve been thinking lately about what I want to do with it. To sell it, I’d have to put time and money into it, which hardly seems worth it. Donating to someone who can actually use it seems to be the best idea.

ParticipantNot to take from the needy, but I promise you can get some money for almost anything on CL around here. Just be honest about what it needs.

Hi,
Thanks! That would be great. We can do a tune up on it. Let us know how to pick it up. And thanks to the other poster re ideas on where to find bikes for these men.

ParticipantHey vailpass, I think I sent you an e-mail with information right? Let me know when/if you think you’d be interested in the bike. Thanks, Chris

ParticipantSome months ago I publicly shamed (via Facebook) my apartment complex’s poor management of our bike room. There were so many bikes squashed into the small room that whole contingents had fallen over and there was no place to lock up a bike nor get it out without damage.
Not surprisingly, they finally went in and took out the abandoned bikes (you need a current permit to park there). I’m sure this is a common problem in large apartment complexes.
Now the big question is: where do all those abandoned bikes go? I hope they are donated to charity like the one mentioned in this thread (or a bike co-op). Perhaps WABA can make it known to the big property management firms here that there are places they can send their unwanted bikes as opposed to a landfill.
