Hi, Mike – the present forecast doesn’t suggest anything in the way of snow between now and the ride, so I think you should be fine with your bike. If you’ve got a standard road bike, you probably don’t have a lot in the way of tire options, anyway (the front fork usually limits how wide of a tire you can get). If you’re new(ish) to city riding, the one suggestion I’d have is to make sure you’ve got a patch kit or extra tube on hand, so you won’t be stuck if your glass and hazard avoidance skills aren’t quite up to par :)

Have fun and enjoy the ride!

DC streets are clear, no worries about snow or ice. I’ve been fine on road tires on the streets for about a week. See Mark’s post for sage advice otherwise. Be careful if you’re coming from VA or another trail system to get there though, there may still be small patches here and there.

Thanks everyone, yeah, I’m new(ish), but I understand. I’ll be taking the metro system to Foggy Bottom and riding south from there to get to the monument.
