Reston is home to over 50 works of public art. We won’t try to see all of them, but a representative sample so you will be tempted to return on your own.

We’ll meet in front of the Starbucks at Wiehle-Reston East Station at 9am on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. From there we’ll do a 12 mile loop back to the station. If you’re “DONE” by then, you can press on your merry way. If your heart says, “No, please I need MORE art,” we can do a 10 mile loop on the other side of the toll road.

This will be a combination of quiet roads and paved trails. It will not be a FAST ride.

Everyone should wear a face covering at the beginning and end of the ride. During the ride, we’ll maintain a goodly amount of space from each other to be safe on all levels.

My rides have a “nobody gets left behind” kind of standard and I always have a sweep (well, sometimes I’m the sweep).

For those of you playing other games, we’ll pass some signs for parks as well a couple of paths that might qualify as wormholes. There might even be STEM on board.

I haven’t seen any responses, so I’m guessing there’s no one up for this. If you’re interested, you need to let me know ASAP. Otherwise, I’ll make plans to do something else on Wednesday. Thanks!

Any possibility of you rescheduling this (or other such rides) for a weekend version some other time during the BAFS2021 season?

I can definitely do it again on a weekend, was just trying to offer an alternative for people who have tomorrow off.

Great, here’s the plan! We’ll meet at Wiehle-Reston Metro Station in front of the Starbucks at 10. I doubt there will be any other bikes there at that time, but if so, I’m riding a black Surly with green bar tape. ~Kelley

Here’s the route. As you can see, it comes back through the start point. We can make a call then whether we’re “arted” out for the day!

Discovered that there are two murals in Ben Ali Way, the alley next to Ben’s Chili Bowl. The first one is the famous mural of 16 African American figures including Prince. New to me is “Kindred” on the V St side. It’s not normally visible biking since V St is one way going East and the mural is on the west side of the building.
