Another painted storm drain in Vienna on Church St NE right next to where the W&OD crosses. This one honors the Manahoac people, a small group of Siouan-language Native Americans in northern Virginia at the time of European contact. They numbered approximately 1,000 and lived primarily along the Rappahannock River west of modern Fredericksburg and the Fall Line, and east of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Pileated Woodpecker bike rack by Dana Ann Scheurer, located at Walker Nature Center in Reston (11450 Glade Dr). the Pileated Woodpecker is Reston’s official bird. The three wheels of the bike racks show the woodpecker in flight, it’s signature nesting hole, and perched in a tree. (My bike wheel and the tip of a Bar Mitt are barely visible on the right side of the picture.)

Asheville is full of public art, especially in the riverside part of town where I’m staying. I’m partial to industrial art, so this fence decor caught my eye in the Riverside Industrial Historic part of town.

I originally snapped this thinking it would be my #scavhunt photo (wouldn’t Barbie own a pink dog wearing a crown?), but since I found something better for that one, here is my public art for the day.
