ParticipantOoh, a fixed gear for $225? Sounds EXTREMELY tempting except that I might already be at S-1, I’d want to replace all the components (bars, which would lead to brakes, pedals, tires, suddenly it’s back to full price), and I don’t even know if I’m going to like riding fixed gear. But that is an awesome deal.

ParticipantAnd a Felt too. I clicked on the facebook page but didn’t see a post about it.

ParticipantThanks.
Hmm. A bit… gregarious looking for me.

ParticipantI think they’ve also got a Kona Token on sale, unless it already sold. That’s a women’s e-bike, normally $1995, on sale for $999.50

ParticipantThat Jamis had my ears perk up til I realized that 51cm was a bike for a person about a foot shorter than me.
:p

Hmm. I do believe that Jamis has somewhere in the neighborhood of a 53cm ETT length.

And you’re 6’8″? 😮

ParticipantThe calculator I found on line called out a 51″ road bike as being suitable for a low end height of 5ft 2″. I know Proteus works hard to do proper bike fitting but I fear that the only solution that would get me on a 51cm bike might involve a bone saw. 😮

There’s one more, alas. I tried to buy the 18″ 2011 Kona Humuhumu with the (weirdly customized) drop bars for myself, to use as a knockaround bike — I was going to put a rear rack and those collapsable baskets on it — and for light duty trail rides. But Anthony and Laurie told me it was too small for me — I had the seatpost set at max height, and they said they’d be embarrassed to have a shop regular riding a bike that didn’t really fit. So sadly it’s back on the floor. I’d been eyeing that bike all year waiting for the sale… I might order a 20″ though, I still like my idea…

A single-speed mountain bike with drop bars? Some pink tape and one of us could be Dirt Jr.

ParticipantI’ve been coveting a MTB with flared dropbars for some time. Horizontal dropouts for SS would be even better.

Looks like it sold today. I gotta head to potluck now and hear the scoop! But I’m thinking the bar tape will be purple…
