ParticipantThese lights have gotten cheaper every year! My only complaint after owning one for a year is that the mount is starting to slip a little bit. Other than that, i still love my MiNewt 250

ParticipantThanks for the post. I’ve always wondered about the more expensive, better lights. I may actually pull the trigger this time and get one so I can get out and feel confident riding in the dark. I just read a review on REI about the cordless ones – 350, 600 that said they interfere with his wireless computer. Has that been a problem for anyone? He said his old 250 did not interfere.

ParticipantI tried the coupon code but it only said “free shipping” which is already default. Weird.
Anyway, I think I’m happy with my LED “tactical” flashlights…

ParticipantI’m shopping for a new seatpost mount taillight. I’ve been using battery powered “disposables” that are cheap ($12) and pretty bright for extra light for certain sections of my ride. (I leave my helmet mounted Vis 360 on all the time, but sometimes in rain and certain road conditions, I just want another rear light on there to make sure drivers see me and get some depth perception.)
Problem with the disposable lights is that they aren’t waterproof. Maybe I won’t have as much trouble since I put on the fenders, but I found that most disposables didn’t last more than about 6 months before the water gets inside and messes them up. Since I don’t run them that much, they are breaking on me before the batteries go down.
I’d like to find a decent truly waterproof, rechargeable taillight that I can depend on to last for a long time, be reachable to turn on and off, and be bright enough to be a solid spare in case the Vis 360 ever craps out (but doesn’t necessarily have to be supernova bright). Suggestions?

I bought a RedEye taillight from Exposure, but it only works with their headlights. It uses a cord and plugs into the rechargeable headlight. That struck me as klunky at first, but now that I have it, I find that having one less set of batteries to monitor is a big plus. I would guess that the cord arrangement would also help with it being waterproof, since there’s no battery or switch on the taillight. I bought the Strada headlight.
