Hard to tell. I don’t imagine it will amount to anything noteworthy. I’ll probably ride the cross bike with the cross tires on it.

In Falls Church and western Arlington I expect we’ll have tempertures just below freezing tonight. That may mean some spots/stretches of black ice on the MUPs in the morning if things don’t dry off before a freeze. This morning the only ice I encountered was the soft stuff just south of the Memorial Bridge on the MVT. I’ll think about mounting my studded tires on my commuter tonight. Or maybe not, since there’s not prediction of other icy weather in the extended forecast.

I might pull out the MTB, but honestly I doubt it. I don’t think we’re going to have a major ice-up tonight.

I took the day off today and it is seriously snowing out here in Vienna and at this point, it is sticking. The forecast calls for weather into the 50s tomorrow, so alas, I guess it’s not yet time to play with my new toy (studded tires on the mountain bike).

It’s sticking to the vegetation and sidewalks here in Foggy Bottom. I may pull the plug on riding home tonight — I don’t trust that little trail between 110 and the Cemetery…

I rode from near EFC to Downtown around 3. It was just wet. I doubt if there will be any ice until the wee morning hours, if then.

I just rode the Custis and W&OD home, it was an awesomely beautiful commute. I think tomorrow may be a bit icy. I’ll probably ride the studded CX bike tomorrow just in case.

Yeah… there’s definitely gonna be some slippery spots tomorrow. It is sticking much better out in the provinces than it was inside the district. Carbon Tubulars with slick tires were definitely a lot of fun on the way home. :D

Just wet out our way except for the wood bridges and the grassy cut throughs, which were treacherous.

My magic eightball says this is all over, and most of what fell will melt by morning. Maybe out nearer to Dulles airport, where it’s always colder than DC, could be iffy in the morning. But it’s supposed to be 52 tomorrow, so as soon as the sun hits the trail any remaining snow should be gone pretty quick.

I think it’ll all be melty slush judging from the temps forecast. I was surprised to see so much snow though – when I checked the forecast before I left this morning it said 30% chance of rain.

My thoughts exactly. I actually ended up un-mounting them in November after having them on for a couple weeks as I still use that MTB as a wet weather option.

My ride home was all after dark. The MVT didn’t have too many issues before 6 pm, a couple of slushy spots and the wooden walkway at Roosevelt Island/Bridge was slick. There were areas of standing water where there is always water after a rain. Depending on tonight’s low, those may be ice covered in the morning.

The 4MRT from the airport to Shirlington had a couple small slushy stretches. The W&OD from Shirlington to George Mason was basically just wet, but from George Mason to Columbia Pike it had more slush. Then from Columbia Pike to Wilson Blvd, it basically had about a half inch of snow or slush. The wooden bridges in Glencarlyn and Bluemont had a good coating of snow that was starting to get packed down by foot and bike traffic. I felt my rear tire (700×35 semi-slick) start to spin on a couple and I wasn’t pushing very hard. From Wilson to Ohio there seemed to be less snow/slush, but there was still a good snow cover on the bridge just before the Custis intersection.

Again, the conditions in the morning will depend on the overnight temperatures. It’s 34 right now in my back yard in Dominion Hills, a degree warmer in the past hour and a half. I’m going to wait and see what things look like when I get up at 5 am before deciding to mount the studded tires.

Downtown, the CCT, and Bethesda were all just wet. Snow was sticking the grass and some bridges but that’s it. HOWEVER, tonight is supposed to be 30-32 degrees. That wet can probably become ice pretty quick. Depending on how early you leave in the morning, it could be a problem. I plan to wake up a little early to throw the studded snow tires on the bike if its slick.

Tomorrow’s forecast during the day…. Sunny and 55. Wierd.

I had a great ride home to Shirlington around 6:45 pm (14th St bridge to MVT to FMR). Mostly just wet by then, with snow sticking to the grass. Very pretty. Love that people are posting such timely info on trail conditions and the great photos!
