Starduster
ParticipantThe undergrounding of utilities still has not been completed. The phone poles on the south side of the Pike are still up, “protected” by sand barrels. But that’s the south side.

ParticipantHooray for more Kidical Mass destinations! I also discovered Mace Park, which seems to have an awesome play structure, only accessible from a trail, that’s on the list for next year.

ParticipantGlencarlyn Park is also a great Kidical destination right off the trail, not too far from Columbia Pike. The playground there was recently renovated and has a rack for bike parking as well as a stream crossing and bathrooms. oh, car parking too, if you roll that way.

Perhaps Fort Meyer Heights Park should go on the list as well. It caught Benjamin’s eye last time we were on the new South Side Arlington Blvd Trail. Finding a non-hilly approach may be tough though.

We love that one! Lubber Run Nature Center (also right there) is also a great destination. Maybe start at one, end at the other…

Definitely. I wonder if we could do a loop that comes down through Fort Myer (with a photo-op at the top of the hill overlooking DC) then go up the hill on the new trail. It would mean 2 kidically-tough hills: on the new trail, then on S Courthouse Rd… wonder if those are deal killers? We could either start/end at Fort Myer Heights Park or start/end at Lyon Park at stop at FMHP in the middle.
Ahhhh, this is awesome – dreaming of warmer weather and getting KMArl into new parts of Arlington.

ParticipantI also rode by Potomac Yards Park this weekend. Seriously cool new playground there along Potomac Ave, not too far from M.E.Swings Del Ray and great train watching too! Did Kidical Alexandria already hit this place up?

You can eliminate the South Courthouse Road hill by extending the loop a bit – roll down 2nd to Irving for instance.

Not really, though we rolled past it on the joint Arlington/Alexandria ride.
