    “Power of 10 Challenge”

    10 months, March – December
    10 rides
    100 km or 100 miles
20,000 feet or 10,000 meters of climbing

Gold = 10 centuries AND 10,000 meters climbing
Silver = 10 mix and match metrics & centuries AND 20,000 feet of climbing
Bronze = 10 metric centuries AND 20,000 feet of climbing

Note that these are minimums – you may exceed if you are feeling especially beastly!

Stars in the colors above will be distributed after the ride if you accept the challenge to bedazzle your helmet (by Sarah Bee or other representative)

Special prize if someone does their 1st century ever; same prize for first metric century ever
Special prize for those who decide to improve and switch to centuries at some point during the season
Special prize if completing Kill Bill is one of your chosen centuries
End of season finale happy hour with one’s name emblazoned on the Great Wall of Glitter
**Prizes are TBD, but I am open to suggestions**

Rides must be uploaded to Strava for validation (manual or non-manual).
Rides must be completed in one day without large gaps of time except for rest stops, etc.
Rides do not have to be official, supported rides, but riding in a group with friends is encouraged.
Group photo highly recommended, but optional.

So, I realize this is pretty late for this season although I know some have taken on the challenge. When February rolls around, I’ll get a headcount for next “season” and set up a Strava group. Who’s in?

    Warmly,

    Sarah Bee

So far this year, I have done seven metric (or more) centuries. Wow. For a non-road-bike-owning person, that is a lot.

Well, less than two times around St. Croix (my loop around Greneda was about 60 miles) but make sure you have a mountain bike.

April century is done, thank you Greg for the company. That’s 76 consecutive months.

Nothing like waiting until the very last day to complete one century each month for the past year. I rode with Komorebi from Arlington to Sugarloaf Mountain yesterday. I biked up Sugarloaf Mountain which was on the biking bucket list. The ride included a bakery stop and an ice cream stop and the biggest, cheesiest bowl of mac and cheese of all time.

About 40 miles in to the ride, in the middle of Montgomery County we had a flyby with The EnthusiGator, which cracked me up for the next mile or two.

Would you consider creating a ten member team for the National Bike Challenge? I made a Greater DC area ten rider team “Hot Saddles” using miles logged in 2016 as the criteria for membership. Top five men and women (willing to join). That left out Allan Adams, Ken Ray, Andrea Matney, you, Matt Holmes, komorebi, etc. who are riding a lot. I think a DC area “B” team could give us some competition and Bob says he likes to beat up on you and Allan. :D Would be cool to have another DC area squad in the “Ten Rider League”. :)

Team Friday Legs is officially an NBC team now. Komorebi and LeprosyStudyGroup have been drafted.

Rimas, Birru and the Fingerman are now members of Team Friday Legs. Shenanigans are about to ensue.

May 2017 century done today wandering around west central Wisconsin. The Elroy Sparta; La Crosse River; Hillsboro; 400; and Omaha Trails were about 50 miles of the 125 mile total. That makes 77 consecutive months.
