ParticipantI’m on a seven month century streak. I’ve also ridden a century in 9 states this year.
Century 13: Horrible Hundred in Clermont, FL: It’s called the Horrible Hundred because it has hills, which is rare in Central Florida. The Garmin showed 4,900ish feet of climbing. There were a few hills with an average 10% grade. I saw lots of people walking bikes or weaving in the roadway. I did all of my climbing in the saddle even when I was crawling along under 6 mph. The morning also started off at 50 degrees with a 12 mph sustained wind warmed to a high of 60. So many leg warmers and scarves out. I wore my stowable lightweight jacket and thought of everyone in DC who’s ride titles indicated that they were being blown off the 14th Street Bridge into an icy Potomac River.

Century 11: Twin Lights Ride in Highlands, NJ: I won’t be repeating this one. Only two to three portapotties at the rest stops, high traffic roads, lots of potholes and rough pavement on the route and missed opportunity to ride along the beach more. Komorebi accused me of just being cranky. The previous days ride along Delaware and Raritan Canal was awesome.

Century 12: Seagull Century: After being cancelled last year because of Hurricane Joaquin, this year’s ride was endangered by Hurricane Matthew. The sky was overcast and misty the entire time with some brief light rain. My bike was covered in sand afterwards. It was the most “business” century I’ve done. I ended up pacelining with someone I met along the way for the last 60 miles. The wild ponies on Assateague were neat. I plan on convincing Komorebi and LSG to do some sort of ride to/from Assateague next year and up the coast somewheres.

I’m on a six month century streak.
Next up:
Horrible Hundred in Cleremont, FL in November
Hains Point 100 in DecemberDecember 16, 2016 at 8:14 am #1061794consularrider
ParticipantI got my December imperial century in on Monday, December 12. A 101 mile ride on my Kona Rove going out the Nidda Route (along the Nidda River) as far as the town of Nidda, then mostly back roads and trails down to the Main River at Hanau, then along the Main route back to Frankfurt.
That makes 72 consecutive months with at least one imperial century ridden.

ParticipantEight months in a row with an imperial century. I’ve also ridden a century in 9 states and one District this year.
Hains Point 100: Everybody was there. The weather was crazy. Rain, hot, cold, windy.

ParticipantWell, I easily exceeded my goal of 100 rides of 100 yards. And then even the double of 200 rides of 200 yards.
But now I’m looking at this:
149 miles to 6000. 10 days to go. Seems doable.

ParticipantYou can do it, if I did with 10 weeks off the bike last spring…

I’m in! January century was in the Virginia Capital Trail with Komorebi and Chris. Rode from Jamestown to Richmond and back. It was a very foggy day. I had water on the glasses the whole time and the view of Richmond was completely obscured. At 105 miles, it was my longest ride.
I’m on a 9 month streak for imperial centuries.

Freezing Saddles Team Ten group ride to Leesburg for beer. Mostly an out and back on the W&OD with the long way home and some HP laps for dessert.

Participant#3 for 2017 and my consecutive month streak now stands at 75. Today’s ride was 112 miles starting in Frankfurt and riding to Mainz/Hechtsheim staying north of the Main. There I participated in my first German RTF (Rad Tour Fahrt?) event. This was organized by the Mainzer RSV and I rode their middle distance (72 km). I had some issues with the route I loaded in my GPS so I missed some turns and didn’t bother getting my card stamped at the one control point I did find. After the event I rode back to Frankfurt on the southern side of the Main.

ParticipantOn an 11 month streak for imperial centuries. This was by far the most lackadaisical of my centuries. I had initially just planned to do 30 miles at Hains Point. My feet were cold and I felt awful so I was headed home. I ran in to Rimas who was headed to the Doughneuring Ride II and he convinced me that it wouldn’t hurt to go to the start and have a cup of coffee before going home. That turned into doing most of the doughnut ride. I was feeling pretty good after all the doughnuts so I did a few more HP laps before having dinner with Komorebi and then going home.

ParticipantI did a second century in March. To celebrate my birthday and the end of Freezing Saddles, I went to Hains Point with the intention of doing 37 laps for 37 years. It was so much fun that I kept going. Komorebi came along and gave me a really cool gift to track the 50 Centuries in 50 States project. Ran into Bob James shortly after arriving and shared a bunch of laps. Ricky #BikeEveryDay showed up for a bunch of laps as did Mr. T. Later in the day, bunches of people came out for the FSLNHPP and I got to share lots of birthday laps with lots of friends.
I ended up riding 152 miles before I stopped to socialize for the remaining few hours, but I was feeling good enough that I think I could have pulled off a double century.
Activity:

Some of those territories might need a water bike

ParticipantSo far this year, I have done seven metric (or more) centuries. Wow. For a non-road-bike-owning person, that is a lot.

https://www.strava.com/activities/838524493January 28th – Solo W&OD for Beerneuring points: 72 miles
https://www.strava.com/activities/847547218February 12th – Team 10 Beernuering ride: 76 miles
https://www.strava.com/activities/864581039March 4th – Team 10 Pie ride: 65.1 miles
https://www.strava.com/activities/887803023March 11th – Kanza gravel training ride: 81.4 miles
https://www.strava.com/activities/896469687March 18th – Consolation ride for cancelled 200k: 70.1 miles
https://www.strava.com/activities/905409842I am hoping to get one in every month this year since I failed miserably at it last year. In addition to several gravel imperial centuries and one infamous imperial DOUBLE century coming up on June 3rd. 😎
