Hi nroos. What a fun question. :+)

I think many of us have many too many cheap plastic water bottles from events.
    Ditto for cheap oversized T-shirts.

Snacks, on the other hand, are always welcome.
And anything that makes us more visible on the roads… arm bands, ankle bands, jingle bells, lights…. those things are totally useful and we use (or lose) them over time, thus grateful for more.

    YES!

And socks. I got thick wool socks one year for Snotcycle and I love them. :-) Another year they gave away wool beanies which I still use.

Theres normal things like patch kits, tire lever sets, blinkies, reflective vests, chain lube.

I dunno how this would go over with a majority of folks because their bikes are too precious, or if it would be too expensive to develop: but ride events could make little achievement badge stickers for the event that people could stick on their helmets or top tubes etc fighter pilot style.

Lengths of reflective tape would be useful and atypical swag, same with spoke reflectors.

+1 for patch kits. Cheap and easy to give out and I find that after six months the “glue” has dried out and needs to be replaced. Chain lube, rags for cleaning, and lights are always much appreciated too. I would really like freebie button batteries that go into the freebie lights that Arlington gives out every year. I really don’t need any more lights, just more batteries. Unfortunately I have not come across rechargeable button batteries.

Completely agree with wheels&wings and some of the other comments.

I know some people enjoy getting t-shirts, but those cotton t-shirts have a real environmental cost (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mattias-wallander/t-shirt-environment_b_1643892.html) and most of us really don’t need any more.

Personally, I often need gloves. Agree that snacks are nice.

Agree with lots of the above. Also for cold weather: buffs.

I’m familiar with “buff” in the sense of, well, eye-candy. But I’ve never heard the term used as a noun…what is it?

Probably want to turn safe search on if you’re anywhere near work or children

The blinky batteries are CR2032s. Search online. In sets of 10 or 20 you can get them for as little as 40 cents each, maybe cheaper. I usually buy a set of 10 at one time, and that’s enough to carry me for a while.

Good idea for a giveaway item, since they can be bought cheaply in bulk and are very useful.

Cycling caps, nice little lights and lesser though of but Usable things like small saddle bags please.

as said t shirts are non riding stuff and cheap water bottles spill out of the cabinet and end up being repurposed for other non cycling things.

At the Monday night BA blinky give away I was in the process of installing a front and rear light on a bike that rolled up to me and the Dear Daughter. We honestly had a hard time finding clear handlebar and seatpost space due to the dog tick like infestation of dead BA blinkys. Seems the bike owner had every intention of getting batteries but the giveaways were often enough to maintain.
