ParticipantI love the idea of a Jan 1st ride to rack up those BAFS points, and get out for a ride. I think you could also do the church ride on Jan 1st, as long as you get the word out. Do I have to supply my own Myrh?
Our 3 hump camel (double tag a long) and my wife and I would be interested if we can swing the schedule. Sunday is kind of hard since we will be at our own church way out in Burke.December 6, 2013 at 4:08 pm #987818dasgeh

BUT the Kidical Mass Ride could also collect donations for AFAC. Costumes are, as always, welcome.

Potomac Pedalers has a traditional Hains Point ride on Jan 1st starting in the morning. Did it last year with my brand new xmas present:
PP has not announced the ride yet but it is a tradition.

ParticipantHere’s my idea for a New Year’s Day holiday lights Kidical: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3787943
Westover Beer Garden – Northside Social. A bit longer and hillier than our normal rides (4 miles, 275 ft or so of climbing) but worth it. And we’d do it in the evening, so lights would be required. It would not be recommended for new rides on their own bikes.
Bonus points if someone could approach Westover and/or Northside to get discounts/freebies…
Shall we do it? Wait until we have a weather report? Thoughts?

It’s not just PP, lots of other clubs and ride groups (VeloDCity from Meetup.com for example).

ParticipantThe ride sounds great. We’ll have family in town, but they might be interested in joining, should the weather not be too nasty. We’d have to rent/borrow a trail a bike for my older daughter. We have ridden around there with her on her own bike and she requires a push up some of the steeper hills. Which my husband has amazing figured out how to do while riding along beside, but that might be a bit too much in a group and in the dark.

Impressive (about the pushing). You’re welcome to borrow our WeeHoo. Our house is not too far from the end, so you could meet and park at our place, ride over with us, and back after…

ParticipantThe Magi ride (Sunday, Jan 5) is shaping up well — so far we have interest from Clarendon Presbyterian, Restoration Anglican and Mt Olivet. I very preliminary route is here: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3790919
We’d leave around 11:30am from CPC, probably returning around 1pm. Of course, if we get more churches/other places interested, we’ll adjust the route (Restoration meets in the evenings anyways, so I’m thinking of cutting that stop). Does anyone have any more suggestions for churches/other places that would be interested?
