I forgot to mention that this area was blocked off again last night. The flowerpot detour had been set up again.

Detour still in effect this morning. You might want to consider Case Bridge or Ohio Drive upriver to West Basin Drive (past the MLK Memorial)

It was clear when I came through around 9 a.m. Maybe they’re just trying to mess with us. ;)

My ride was so nice this morning that I decided to use the TR bridge instead and I avoided the whole mess. It only added a mile to my ride, though.

    Maybe with just me!:)

Seriously, I had a good phone conversation with a NPS planner and we discussed how the area around the Jefferson Memorial might be improved for cyclists. I plan on following up in the near future. If you have ideas, please post them or send me a PM. My thoughts (in no particular order) include: those damned cones, trail improvements off the bridge, more effective routes in front of the Jefferson, and improved paving between 15th street and the cutoff for the Jefferson.

Because of the pedestrian numbers there, it would seem to be a good idea to keep bikes off the sidewalks, but the alternatives are not plentiful.

    Thoughts? Let me know.

Can they reconsider the granite curb cut-out across the street from the traffic cones? (The one farthest to the left facing the CaBi station.) The edges on that thing are waiting to take someone down.
