It still gives me great joy to see the FS2016 slap bands or FS2017 zipper pulls “in the wild,” so I’m volunteering to coordinate the identifier again this year.

I’d like to stick with the neon green color — doing it for a third year will make it a tradition, right? — but I’m open to suggestions on what the FS2018 identifier should be. I’ve listed some options in the poll. Please vote or respond to this post with other suggestions by Monday, November 27.

Oh, and Dickie has already given permission to use the bicycle-chain snowflake logo again. Thanks, Dickie!

My vote: reflective ear tags. They would be both safe and fashionable, plus they’d be an easy way to mark which team one is on.

I know I’m going to confuse the heck out of everyone in Seattle (“What’s Freezing Saddles? It doesn’t freeze here. You’re dumb… …can I buy one of those from you?”)

Here’s the site I came across when randomly searching for reflective tags: https://www.cckoutfitters.com/blogs/blog/76340485-reflective-ear-tags-for-cattle-deer-and-livestock (Warning: the first half of the video at the end of the article is strangely intense with graphic livestock injuries; skip to :50 to avoid them)

Cycling snowplows! They can be neon green I suppose… $50 and a LOT of jury-rigging to set them up.

I’m in as long as we can plow the snow to the high mileage riders! [emoji2]

I only wish something like that was available commercially. First snow day could be spent plowing the CCT.

As it is, I’ll just have to stick with my tire chains.

So that means we’ll be dumping a lot of the snow next to your front door, right? :D

Reminder to everyone who hasn’t weighed in yet — please vote or post a suggestion in this thread today. Based on the survey responses so far, I’m inclined to go with the same zipper pulls as last year, in green. Zipper pulls in other colors wouldn’t be as distinctive — e.g., BikeArlington has zipper pulls in blue and pink, and Alexandria’s DASH has yellow ones. But there’s still time to bribe me with cookies to get me to change my mind.

Just for that, we will find your bike in the middle of the night and put about 500 Freezing Saddles tags on it. Regardless of whether you actually participate in Freezing Saddles. :D
