ParticipantIs anyone else kind of terrified by the number of heat and cold records we’ve broken in the last year-ish?

ParticipantTo live in fear is not to live at all.

Well, yes, and I am convinced it is on the whole caused by a changing climate. With the caveat of course that no one event can be conclusively tied to climate change.
I also believe that even unusual cold spells may be related to global warming, because periods of change produce all kinds of swings.
But I don’t believe we will muster the political will to do anything about it.July 10, 2014 at 6:48 pm #1005589jrenaut
ParticipantAt this point I’m thinking anthropogenic climate change is probably the least scary scenario. At least there’s a chance we can fix that.

ParticipantNot to discount legitimate concerns, but I’m thinking that we may have pleasant weather for happy hour and riding to and from it.

ParticipantLooks like it will be far worse in the Great Lakes than here. 10 degrees below normal? Not what I would call severe weather. Maybe more click-bait for The Post. They seem to be posting even more of it than usual this week.

Not just in the last year, but more like in the last 4 to 5 years. Before that, I remember walking a lot, and the wind was still most of the time. In the last 4 years or so, it has become windier than usual. This was great at summer time, but made winters more brutal because of the windchill. And the reason for the windy weather is that we have cold front for few days(few degrees below normal), then hot front for few days(few degrees above normal), and we are caught between these two fronts and the wind goes back and forth between them, giving us breeze along the way.

Amen! I will take 100 degrees with 100% humidity ANY DAY over anything in winter. Hell, I will take 100/100 over the 50s and 60s.
I think I live in the wrong climate
I love it when I leave in the morning, at around 6ish, and it is already in the 80s.

ParticipantCalm down, people. The NOAA forecast highs for next Wednesday and Thursday are in the low 80’s…83, with overnight lows 20 degrees cooler. Below normal by about 6 degrees…No big deal for us, but a nice piece of drama by the CWG.
