I’m pretty sure husband turned the motor off. He does that. Weird. And it’s not like there’s a heater under there.
Well your husband is definitely scarf-worthy.

Yeah, it wasn’t mentioned, but I’m pretty sure I got a “Tortoise” prize last year for being the slowest. And I rode every day.
You’ve got some others giving you a run (if that’s the right word) for your money this year.
Do you want to award this, or do you feel that’s a conflict of interest?

Currently, Renee M (sorry, do not know her user name) is winning the “Sloth of the Mountain” award with at least 50% of days ridden (if she rides today or tomorrow).
cvcalhoun is in second with having ridden every day.

I definitely don’t think I should be awarding a prize for which I might be in contention!

ParticipantCurrent Pointless Prizes (mucho thanks to those who have stepped forward):
Golden Nugget – Vicegrip/Arlington Rider (already awarded)
Side Bets – Mikey
Creative Titles – Steve O
Hains Point Laps – Arlington Rider
Stout for the Stout – Alcova Cyclist
X Lowest average miles – CPTJohnC
Another TBD – CPTJohnC
#kidical – dasgeh
Early Bird – Amalitza
Sloth of the Mountain – Sunyata
BA Scarves – BikeArlington
Anchor award – ronwalf
Kosen Dangi award – americancycloWe need volunteers for these:
Winning team – _______ (BA has indicated they may provide jerseys)
Top riders (male & female) – ____________ (BA has indicated they may provide jerseys)
Every Day riders – ______________ (there may be a lot of these this year!)
Tortoise – ______________ (cvcalhoun has recused herself for conflict of interest)
Make up your own!!!! Go to the beginning of the thread for lists of previous year’s and some other ideas. Here’s another someone suggested to me but you could steal:
Snow “Flake” award for 1) all riders with no rides under 32 degrees OR 2) most time indoors on the trainer OR 3) rider with the highest temp in the lowest temp category OR something you devise. If you are new to FS, awarding a pointless prize is not daunting. You can use stats already being collected on freezingsaddles.com or, if you have a different idea, you can ask the data gurus and see if it’s something they can do without too much difficulty.
Then it’s just a matter of determining your winner(s)/loser(s) and announcing at the final happy hour. Including some sort of pointless item that represents your prize is a nice touch. That’s it. Easy peasy.

ParticipantI’m thinking of sponsoring a “we’re all in this together” prize, for the team whose members have the least variance in their individual scores (i.e., the team least dependent on or affected by extremely high- or low-mileage riders). Nature of prize TBD.

This is an interesting ida; how do we get this data? (Do people just self-report with 30-minute average speeds?)
