Getting in my 10 miles was a challenge tonight!
Okay, photo shows on my phone, but not my computer? Trying again.
I am resubmitting the Turkish Mosaic within the NATO HQ compound in Brussels. This time my ride met criteria #1! I grabbed it on the way out of work this afternoon.
A mosaic mural, 50 meters long and 2 meters high, consisting of 200 two-sided mosaic panels that are each 50 cm wide. It was originally installed the Turkish Exhibition pavilion along with a restaurant in 1958 at the Brussels International Expo. One of the International Staff was so impressed with it, they requested for it to be installed in the original permanent NATO HQ in Paris after the expo was finished. It was moved twice more after: first to the temporary NATO HQ when it moved to Brussels in 1967, and then to the second permanent HQ after 51 years in 2018 where it now stands.

I made my 10 miles! In spite of the fact that my street was impassable, so I had to walk a mile and a half to a CaBi station before I could even start the ride.

Looks like some kinda rocket, but really I don’t know what it’s meant to be a sculpture of. There was a sign next to it but it had ice covering the words, and a snowbank in the way.It’s in falls church on Washington Street near the intersection of Washington Blvd. (Washington st falls church becomes Langston Blvd Arlington on the other side of Washington Blvd.)
January 8, Samen op Stap. The #publicartfinder ride became one about #trafficcircleart….a thing here, in many of the circles. This installation sets in the middle of a circle at the southeastern corner of Machelen, tucked up against the E19 highway on Konig Albertlaan where it emerges from an underpass beneath the E19.
1/08/2025 – Snowman #2 for me @ corner of S. Pendleton St & N Pitt St (near Trader Joe’s) in Old Town Alexandria VA. This one had a jalepeno pepper for a nose & paint brushes for arms.
Snowmen have been few and far between despite snowmaggedon as I was informed by a local kid that “this snow isn’t any good for packing”
#publicartfinder 1/8/2025 – His statue in George Taliaferro Plaza at the north end of Memorial Stadium.
Sort of a personal connection here, I went to high school with one of his daughters and his wife did my suitability interview in my Indiana Bar application. Oh yeah, and I had met him
