Park question: Lyon Park Play Park (the park within the neighborhood Lyon Park in Arlington) is not owned by Arlington County.
It’s publicly accessible during daylight hours, so it’s good to go, right?
If it’s called a park and it’s accessible to the public then it sounds like a park to me.

Participantcamiller, thanks for sponsoring this prize! It’s been a good incentive to take some little detours and explore a bit. And, it’s way cheaper than coffee is!
Josh, I’m glad you are enjoying the adventure. It has definitely helped me explore new areas and find new roads to ride on as I map out ways to go to different parks.

Josh, I’m glad you are enjoying your adventures on your bike. It has definitely helped me explore more of my area and learn new roads to ride on as I map out ways to locate new (to me) parks. I have also become more aware of parks as I ride around. Ride on…

ParticipantSadly, they were just closing the park for the evening, but hopefully getting the picture still counts.
And this one doesn’t count, since I was in the car (the bike was in the car, though). But it’s still an amazing find out in the middle of nowhere!

Not sure about the tally, but you can set privacy zones in Strava so that your start/ending location defined in the zone(s) isn’t shared on the map.
Thanks – I’m aware. I want my entire commute to be kept private, however. No random stranger needs to find out through Strava where I am at 6:30am.
So the question remains – is there a way to get credit for parkfinder without using the hashtag feature? Thanks.

Jennie Dean Park
“Jane Serepta Dean (15 April 1848 – May 3, 1913) (nicknamed “Jennie” or “Miss Jennie”) was born into slavery in northern Virginia, freed as a result of the American Civil War, and became an important founder of churches and Sunday Schools for African Americans in northern Virginia. Dean founded the Manassas Industrial School for Colored Youth, which for more than four decades was the only institution of secondary education available to African American youth in Northern Virginia, and one of only two in the state without overt religious affiliation.”February 1, 2020 at 10:43 pm #1104131kwarkentien
ParticipantFort Reynolds Park in Fairlington, one of the many “forts” erected by the Union in Arlington and Alexandria, which the Union occupied, to protect DC. It’s also a wormhole: the path leads to Abingdon Elementary School.
